- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Mind Games Within Mind Games
Max is a standalone novel that takes the reader on a wild and crazy ride – there are mind games within mind games and even at the end, I wasn’t sure what was real or fabricated by the characters. This book is definitely dark with scenes of violence, drug use, and other morally ambiguous and deplorable themes. This is not a book for people who want something light and fluffy.
I enjoyed this story immensely. I never knew exactly what was going on, but I had an idea where the book was heading, but the ending took me by complete surprise. The characters were so delightfully messed up and psychotic. Everything about this book had me on the edge of my seat - I just wished it was a bit longer and we could get more info on what happens after the happy ending (I think it qualifies as a happy ending…it’s as happy as it gets for Crane and Max). - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Aye

You had me from the the first word!!! Love Loved Loved it - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This story was a mindF! The Doctor was extremely naive and idiotic. I have absolutely no sympathy for Crane and he does not deserve the licence to practice as a mental health practitioner. He is a willing participant in Max's games and he is a cheater- disgusting! Even a layman knows psychopaths have no empathy and will do anything to get rid of anything and anyone they consider to be in their way as a psychiatrist crane knew all this but he knowingly and voluntarily decided to follow the path of Max's games.
Having said that, I have no love or sympathetic for Max whatsoever. He destroys people's lives because he feels bored and he is the epitome of a bona fide psychopath for real but his antics make the story ridiculously riveting. His mind works in ways that are difficult to fathom and he is no doubt the villain and antagonist of this story but one can't help but wonder what he will get up to next.
