About this audiobook

Gray Nolan's biggest problem in life was the torch he carried for his closeted coach. He was just another happy-go-lucky dude, a college student and hockey player, when his ordinary existence was interrupted, and he became a human trafficking statistic.

He and seven other young men were taken aboard a luxurious yacht where they were to be auctioned off to the highest bidder. Gray was beaten, shattered, and almost defeated by the time his buyer stepped out of the shadows in a swirl of his own cigarette smoke.

He was Gray's new owner.

Darius Quinn had vowed never again to find himself in a situation like this. His days as a private military contractor were over. No more missions, no more risks, no more personal attachments. Yet, here he was, after weeks of searching, face-to-face with his broken prize.

It was time to get the knucklehead back to his family. Quick and easy was Darius's plan. Then everything went sideways.

Contains mature themes.

I'm often awkwardly silent or, if the topic interests me, a chronic rambler. In other words, I can discuss writing forever and ever. Fiction, in particular. The love story—while a huge draw and constantly present—is secondary for me, because there's so much more to writing romance fiction than just making two (or more) people fall in love and have hot sex. There's a world to build, characters to develop, interests to create, and a topic or two to research thoroughly.Every book is a challenge for me, an opportunity to learn something new, and a puzzle to piece together. I want my characters to come to life, and the only way I know to do that is to give them substance—passions, history, goals, quirks, and strong opinions—and to let them evolve. Additionally, I want my men and women to be relatable. That means allowing room for everyday problems and, for lack of a better word, flaws. My characters will never be perfect.Wait...this was supposed to be about me, not my writing.I'm a writey person who loves to write. Always wanderlusting, twitterpating, kinking, and geeking. There's time for hockey and cupcakes, too. But mostly, I just love to write.

NOT for the faint of heart. Lots of triggers, overall a great book though and would recommend!

A dark MM romance with an added age gap.

I haven't read any of the other worlds that Cara has created, but I enjoyed reading about these main characters who obviously played a part in other books.

Gray's life changes instantly when he's kidnapped and thrown into an auction for some sick people's fantasies. Little does he know that Darius is there to play the game and get him out. Along the way, they both have to play the part without anyone else catching on. It's hard work while trapped on a boat for days.

The cliffhanger was so gripping, and I'm dying to see where it goes in the next book. Both characters have very strong and different personalities, but they match each other well. Darius let his guard down when it came to Gray, and Gray needed that guidance at times that Darius could offer. Gray had a very hot-headed personality that came to light a few times and seemed a bit drastic, but I enjoyed them both together and can't wait yo see where it goes.

I’m down for good bdsm but the straight up torture scenes? …just no

Putrid, horrid, vile. The worst of humanity, the worst in Stockholm, the worst in abuse, killing, and so on. In Chapter Four alone is Darius watching them as he eats his steak, giving them a look like they're all school yard bullies as they talk about how one of them owns property near a canyon and turns some of his fresh buys loose then spends a week hunting them like deer. I've read things like that. It's fresh out of Law & Order or Criminal Minds but it's so much worse.

Cara Dee knows how to write stuff that makes you want to gag, vomit, and ache in how awfully real and wrong things are.

Human trafficking, kidnapping, devaluing, breaking people's minds. This book is too real, too awful. It's not hot and sexy, it's a dark dark place of reality in a book. Mind-breaking, mind-twisting. This book is deep, dark, and probably the most disturbing stuff to read.

It's not glorified, it's not beautiful. It's ugly, gross, raw, wrong. This book is putrid brutality.

When I started reading this I was repulsed, gut punched. "This is wrong, I can't enjoy this." That line summarizes the whole book in ways. It's filthy and gross and I thought I'd throw it away but the more I read the less I saw it shown in any good manner. It's wrong. It's all wrong and Darius knows it, says it is.

I came out around the sixth chapter going full on: I might end up giving this five stars due to how horribly accurate and non-glorified and realistic it is. Full on it's Stockholm and mind destroying and putrid but none of it's presented in a this is so hot way. It's shoved in your face in the way a dead body is. Look. This is reality.

Gross, vile, wrong. This is a book about pain, suffering, and the worst of humanity. Holy shit, hallelujah, good night!
