About this audiobook
Set at the heart of political power in Washington DC, Absolute Power was the book which launched David Baldacci's career as a worldwide bestseller of thrilling fiction. The movie, starring Clint Eastwood, was a major box office success across the world.
In a heavily guarded mansion in the Virginian countryside, professional burglar and break-in artist, Luther Whitney, is trapped behind a one-way mirror. What he witnesses destroys his faith not only in justice, but all he holds dear.
What follows is an unthinkable abuse of power and a criminal conspiracy, as a breathtaking cover-up is set in motion by those appointed to work for one of the most important people in the world - the President of the United States.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I only recently discovered David Baldacci's books. The first books I read were the two books in the Shaw series. While the books were fun, I didn't consider them earth-shattering.
I only then realised that he was the author of Absolute Power, of which a movie was made in the 90's. It featured Clint Eastwood and Gene Hackman and I thoroughly enjoyed the movie at the time. My father insisted that I give the book a try and Easter weekend was a good a time as any.
I was pleasantly surprised, especially considering that Absolute Power was Baldacci's first book published. It is simply brilliant. The pacing was terrific, the characters unforgettable and the plot superb. This is my favourite book this year so far.
I even rewatched the movie, but shouldn't have done so. The movie didn't age as well and I realised the book is vastly superior to the movie. The movie had several details changed, but not for the better.
The book is highly recommend. The storyline is very original and a thriller of the highest quality.
