It’s harder than I expected.
After solving the murder of my best friend, I’m hoping my run-ins with the law are over.
Then my youngest daughter goes missing.
The local detective, Boone, is on the case, and the neighborhood is determined to help find my little girl alive.
But the clock is ticking. And hope? It’s running out.

The book (series) is just ok. The first book was better than the second, but neither have been notable for me. The narrator isn't helping my experience either. I'm finding her difficult to listen to bc of her pacing and emphasis. But what really knocked the rating down for me was the believability. Grey and Boon violate SO many logical, well-known, common sense police procedures that it's frustrating. The things the author wants us to believe are permissable is laughable and actually maddening at some points. I also didn't love the "mystery" element of the story either bc I solved it as soon as the perp was initially mentioned, ruining the next few hours of listening. This is not an "edge of your seat" drama. It's a listen half heartedly while doing something else more important. I have fully walked out of the room while this series is still playing and come back and not felt the need to rewind to listen to what I missed. I actually put this on to fall asleep several nights bc the interest level was just.....lacking. This author has written better material, I'd say this whole series is a skip, unfortunately.
