About this audiobook
Where one life ends, another is revealed.
Liz Evans is setting out on a cross-country road trip, with her grandmother’s cat, to carry out her grandmother’s final wishes. However, she’s about to learn that the coupon clipping woman who raised her was actually a wealthy, Hollywood icon who had her share of international lovers.
Mark Watts is only one of the secrets Liz’s grandmother kept from her. A biographer, he resides in Liz’s grandmother’s Palm Beach home, which Liz knew nothing about. As her guide into her grandmother’s past, Mark becomes a confidant, a friend, and more.
Though Liz’s journey is to learn about her grandmother, she finds these lessons turn inward. Content with her life of solitude, Liz is challenged to live a big fat life with no regrets--which just might include a crazy cat, a house in Palm Beach, and a man.

Reviews for Liz's Road Trip

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5An ARC was provided in exchange for an honest review. This did not influence my thoughts in any way.Liz’s Road Trip was the first book by Bernadette Marie that I’ve read. It follows Liz as she journeys to Florida to deliver her grandma’s ashes. Along the way she discovers parts of her grandma’s life that she never knew about. I enjoyed this book. The characters were well written and the plot was interesting. I would definitely read more books by this author.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Liz has always known her Gran's final wish, and now the time has come. But there's more to Gran's last wish, just as there was more to Gran's life than being Liz’s grandmother and their shared lives in Denver, Colorado. Liz will undertake the road trip adventure of her life to fulfill Gran's wishes as she takes Gran home to Palm Beach, Florida—a road trip, as Liz will not fly. Liz's companion for the journey will be Cosmo, Gran's cat. This is a road trip of discovery. Self-discovery and the discovery of the grandmother Liz thought she knew.I loved every breathtaking minute of reading this story. Every visualization. Every emotion. Every. Breathtaking. Minute. This is love. This is joy. Even as a heart is aching with loss, it can still sparkle in finding the steps forward, hugging the memories dancing through your mind, releasing the tears as the thoughts and feelings overflow with all that brought you to this time. This time when you've lost the wind beneath your wings. It is not an end. It is the beginning. It is a reminder to live. To live in the present. To live fully. To be grateful. To live joyfully. To love. The story is beautifully written. It is written with love. If I could, I'd give it a star rating of all the stars in the universe. I’ve read a lot of books. I’ve written a lot of book reviews. I’ve never even thought about wanting to give that star rating before now. In this moment of our time, I give you my heartfelt book recommendation and joyously wish you a life well-lived. Read the novel. You'll understand. It's a message for readers to internalize in their own lives and pass it on.I was lucky to receive an Advance Reader’s Edition of this title as an Early Reviewer from LibraryThing. The opinions expressed in the review are my own.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This book took a few chapters for me to get into, but once I did it's delightful. I love a good road trip story and I also love a story about someone who has a really close relationship with their grandparents. Liz learns so many secrets about her grandmother along her trip and also find some surprises of her own. This is light with plenty of “real life” moments. Very enjoyable!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I would have given Liz’s Road Trip by Bernadette Marie five stars if it hadn’t gone on quite so long. The story line was appealing and interesting but Liz and her hangups became a little tedious as the book went on.As the book begins, Liz’s grandmother Betsy has just died after having brought 30 year old Liz up since her mother died of cancer when she was 10. Liz is a writer in Denver, CO and is very much alone except for her best friend Grace. Liz reads a letter from her grandmother telling her that her ashes need to be spread in Palm Beach, FL where she lived before going to Denver to take care of Liz. Liz realizes she will have to drive to Florida because she has been too traumatized to fly since a scary flight from FL to Denver with her mother when she was 6. She also starts to realize that there were a lot of things she didn’t know about her grandmother, starting with the fact that she owned a seven million dollar home in FL, lived in by a mysterious young man, Mark Watts. As she gets to know Mark through texts and phone calls, she becomes more and more upset by how little she knew about her grandmother’s life. So she packs up her grandmother’s cat, Cosmo, and sets out for FL. Mark becomes an ever increasing part of her life as the drive to FL unfolds.I don’t want to spoil the story for any future readers. Suffice it to say, the book is well written, entertaining, romantic, and surprising. I will certainly look for other books by Bernadette Marie.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Liz’s road trip…. There is so much I can say. Let me first start off with something I didn’t even notice until after I started writing this review — my mom’s name is Liz and my Dad’s name is Mark. This absolutely has zero bearing on the book, but I just found that very interesting. Sorry, back to the book. This is the story of a young lady who loses her grandmother, after being raised by her for years. Very often after death there are secrets and whole other lives to the people who died had lived and book focuses on granddaughter Liz quest to get some answer while mourning her loss. I think it’s a good story, I read the short ish book in one sitting. But I do wish the author would lean in a bit more to Liz’s foibles. Make her agoraphobia; or that she can’t say she loves someone. The half committed to the sometimes weird actions or feelings could land her on the autism spectrum with some behaviours mentioned. It’s a good book — interesting story
