Savannah Sleuth (Vigilantes for Justice #1) by Alan ChaputPatricia Falcon and three of her close friends work hard rescuing battered women. That is her fulfilling job, to see these women are safe. When Patricia's Mother ends up dead, she is sure that is is due to foul play. She along with her friends decide to find the truth, no matter what.A fast paced story with attention to detail, thrills, suspense and mystery. Patricia is very likable, along with her friends. They are determined to get to the truth, with twists and turns along the way. Overall I found Savannah Sleuth very enjoyable, a great who-done-it. I highly recommend to those who love a good murder/mystery.

I've been a fan of the author, Alan Chaput, for some time. As a fellow writer, he shares interesting and positive insights on his twitter and Facebook pages. This was my first time reading a Cozy Mystery novel, and it started out action packed and intriguing, but for me personally it then took too long building the background on characters and story to keep me engaged. It was a slow build to the mystery and although it provided a satisfactory ending, it was not the kind of genre that worked for me.This is no reflection on Alan's writing, which I found flowed well, and was light and engaging. It was just not the normal fast paced, action or thrill packed kind of story I usually read.

Patricia and her friends are trying to stop women abuse and track down who killed her mother. Suspects, missing money, clerics, and troubled marriages add a little suspense. Colorful descriptions of Savannah, Georgia provide the backdrop for this vigilante’s southern charm.

I really enjoyed this book! The characters in the book were very well developed. The main character Patricia is a strong female lead, who became very determined to find out what happened to her mother. She refused to give up until she found the answer.

I really enjoyed the strong alliance that the women in the book have. They are all willing to help on the case.

I liked the choice by the author to give the main characters the last name Falcon. To me, this shows that the characters will be strong, independent, and resilient.

I did get a sense that this book was different than other cozy mysteries I have read. There were some instances of cussing and a few intimate scenes. I didn’t feel that these instances took away from the book, however other cozy mystery readers should be aware they exist.

This book had me hooked from the first page and kept me reading all the way to the end. I am looking forward to the other books in this series!

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
