About this audiobook

I’m rather used to the crazy cases, because let’s face it, most cops can handle the run-of-the-mill with their eyes closed. I’m only called in when the situation is weird or they need to solve the case fast.

This case is a little of both.

Someone’s attacking women as they get off of work, hitting them in the back of the head. What started as a case of battery has steadily built up to homicide. With three murders, six victims, and no leads, the Clarksville PD are desperate to catch the assailant. But there’s no real leads for us to follow, either, and for once my eyes can’t really help.

A madman running around attacking women is bad enough, but the police are demanding answers we can’t give them, and they’re not taking no for an answer. It’s pushing us all past our limits, and frankly, I don’t know what’s going to break first: The case or Donovan’s patience.

    What a Hoot!

I can't get enough of this series and I only just finished the second book.

I listened to this book on audio. And while the narrator did a decent job, there were times he moved the voices up. But he did a wonderful job of conveying excitement, anger, and other various emotions.

As for the book itself, the characters are engaging, the story is well-paced and intriguing. The POV is alternated between Jon and Donavan which I enjoy since it gives a better inside into both of the main character's thoughts and feelings.

One of my favorite characters is the villain. He's a complex character who you can both hate and feel compassion for.

I highly recommend this book and series.

Disappointed that it not the same narrator as the first book. I find Kenneth Obi has better portrayal of John’s personality (more fun and lively). It took a while to get used to.

After I listened to the first Jon novel I was desperate for the 2nd. It threw me when the narrator changed which was disappointing but these things happen. I was also confused as the perspective changed between Jon and Donnavan, but the narrator was the same, and there was no indication at the start of each chapter which characters perspective I was viewing from. That takes a bit of concentration. I did enjoy the story and the character development and I will listen to book 3.

This was great! I love book series where we follow the same couple. The new case was interesting and I liked the new characters that were introduced.
