About this audiobook
His romantic weekend in ruins, shy twenty-something artist Perry Foster learns that things can always get worse when he returns home from San Francisco to find a dead body in his bathtub. A dead body in a very ugly sportscoat -- and matching socks.
The dead man is a stranger to Perry, but that's not much of a comfort; how did a strange dead man get in a locked flat at the isolated Alton Estate in the wilds of the "Northeast Kingdom" of Vermont?
Perry turns to help from "tall, dark and hostile" former navy SEAL Nick Reno -- but is Reno all that he seems?

- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5The narrator is dreadful. I couldn't finish this book. Like the narrator couldn't finish his sentences and the editors couldn't finish cutting the sound bites together.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I love these Josh Lanyon cozy mystery kind of books. This was a spooky, romantic, and super exciting mystery. I don't love old houses... I'm scared of them... for a reason... My reason is spiders, but dead bodies is a good reason too.
Perry Foster, an artist/librarian, returns early from a terrible vacation to find a dead body in his bathtub! The only person who believes him is his across the hall neighbor and ex navy seal Nick Reno (ridiculous name... I feel like Josh Lanyon was totally watching porn when she named that character - ha). Anyway... mysteries, shenanigans, and sexy times follow. Also some nail biting run ins with bad guys.
Yay there's a sequel! Reading that next.
I listened to this book on Scribd. Max Miller was an excellent narrator. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Very good narration, giving the hardboiled detective story feeling but sweetening for the romantic parts. Nicely convoluted plot, and good character development.
