About this audiobook

He can hold lightning in his hand, but will love slip through his fingers?

Jude Sullivan has one more chance to prove he isn’t a danger to the paranormal community. If he fails, he’ll be stripped of his magic, a painful process to make a witch human.

As a test, the Coven sends him to Mercy South, Colorado, to stop a creature that’s been mutilating cows and scaring the locals. Jude hates cows and small towns. The Coven should’ve sent a nature witch.

Rob Mackenzie is the local mechanic and bear shifter. If the locals knew his secret, they’d run him out of town. He wants someone to really know him and not be afraid. With several chewed-up cows and some other weird happenings, he’s wondering if he’s no longer the strangest creature in Mercy.

After meeting Mack, Jude thinks he’s found the cause of the trouble. But the trouble is only just getting started when Mack realizes he’s Jude’s fated mate. As the cow-mutilating creature starts hunting in town, Mack and Jude will have to quit fighting their attraction and each other, to stop the creature from killing again.

For readers who love fated mates, bear shifters and small town gay romance.

Narration kills it. Monotone it's confusing who is talking. No inflections at all. Your mind wanders off while listening.

Narrator is really bad. Story was ok. I listened to the whole thing but I am endlessly annoyed that this narrator has a beautiful accent but is so monotone…

This series may would probably be great in ebook form but I'm restricted to audio bc I have no time to sit down and read a book through anymore.

The narrator ruined this book for me and I couldn't even make it through the 3rd chapter. He would be really good at doing a book set in the UK but as it is he is not at all good with American accents for American characters set in Colorado. If I could have tricked myself into believing this book was set in the UK it would have been fine but I couldn't. I'll be taking the additional books of this series off my list to listen to, I may add them to my never ending TBR pile if I get a chance to ever sit down and physically read. I was looking forward to this book and feel bad for the author bc in just the first 3 chapters it seemed like it would be a great book. I just couldn't get past the horrible choice for narrator.

I liked the story but the narrator...
After a certain time, I got used to his monotonous tone but it spoiled the story unfortunately

I agree with most of the others, I didn’t get far enough to have an opinion on the story because the narration was not only inappropriate (wrong accent for the setting) but so monotonous I couldn’t stand it for the whole first chapter. I will never understand how writers and/or publishers can make such terrible choices.

The narrator speaks in a dull monotone. The story is...not great. I couldn't get through it and gave up at chapter 5.

I really liked the story and im interested in the rest of the series. I just don't think that the narrator was a good pick. The story takes place in the US but the narrator clearly isn't American.

This was the worst narration I’ve ever heard in an audiobook. The reading of the phone book would have been more exciting. Change that and it would be fine.

I liked this book about Jude an electric mage (witch) and Mack Bear shifter mate (familiar).

It has good bad guys. 1. A possibly evil Coven Council with at least one member who obviously steals people’s magic. 2. A hell hound shape shifting monster.

It has a sweet love story of hesitant mates who fall for each other the more they get to know each other. They also have realistic “we don’t really know each other that well” future plans you don’t see very often/ever in these things.

I kinda fell in love with Jude when he was looking for a shirt to wear “that said: ‘I wish this was a date, but it’s not because we’re talking about dead cows’. “. OMG so funny.

I listened to it on Scribd. I did not like the narrator, but I got used to him after a while.

I’m really sad that I had to DNF half way through because this story was really interesting and I was really looking forward to the rest of the series.

But, like many others have stated, the narrator ruined the story for me. He was just all over the place and sounded so bored & depressed. It was difficult to figure out which character was talking. This lead my ADHD mind to wander off lol and was constantly going back to hear what I missed.

If this author was to redo this series with another narrator I would 100% continue listening but I know that’s probably expensive to do. Unfortunately, I have a chronic illness and my medication messes with my vision so finishing this series on my kindle would be difficult for me.

Story was fair enough but the narrator was simply awful. Sounded like a bad computer imitation. An excellent narrator could have made this a 4 star audiobook.
