About this audiobook
The truth is, I'm an admin assistant who applied for a job that sounded kind of interesting and ended up working for the Community of Species Government. I'm the only human in the office, and basically I ride herd on a team of rambunctious shifters and demons.
I also spend a lot of time avoiding Gideon Bailey, the demon I had a one-night stand with right before I took this job. He hates me, and I really want to avoid being murdered. But I've been offered a promotion that will mean working with him, so we're both going to have to get over it.
Plus, people are going missing. Pregnant people. And the word is that someone is dabbling in genetic experimentation. Putting a stop to that is more important than the sexual tension Gideon and I have been ignoring . . . isn't it?
Louisa Masters
Louisa Masters started reading romance much earlier than her mother thought she should. While other teenagers were sneaking out of the house, Louisa was sneaking romance novels in and working out how to read them without being discovered. She’s spent most of her life feeling sorry for people who don’t read, convinced that books are the solution to every problem. As an adult, she feeds her addiction in every spare second, only occasionally tearing herself away to do things like answer the phone and pay bills. She spent years trying to build a “sensible” career, working in bookstores, recruitment, resource management, administration, and as a travel agent, before finally conceding defeat and devoting herself to the world of romance novels. Louisa has a long list of places first discovered in books that she wants to visit, and every so often she overcomes her loathing of jet lag and takes a trip that charges her imagination. She lives in Melbourne, Australia, where she whines about the weather for most of the year while secretly admitting she’ll probably never move.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I liked it well enough. I feel like the romance wasn't really front center and there are also too many time jumps for me (5 years laters, 3 months laters, x weeks laters...)
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I liked it. Thought is was cute and the narrator did a great job.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Great story, entertaining, and fantastic narration. Would recommend a listen.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Narrator did a great job of making this already fun book, a lot more fun - the accents were on point and really well done. Really enjoyed listening to this book.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I’ve loved this book! The narration is great! Perfect series!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I really enjoyed this book and the narration is amazing. A must read.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Love this book and narration is fantastic. Great dialogue and laugh out loud funny. You gotta listen to this one!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I barely had a chance to register, I was listening to a new story, before I was laughing. The world and the plot was alright and made me want to know more, but it was definitely the characters that carried the story. The main character, Sam, is absolutely hilarious to me and the narrator Joel Leslie certainly did the writing justice, not only with the main characters but with all of them. There was a particular drunken scene where I ended up crouched down on my kitchen floor with a dishtowel in my hand, laughing so much I reached the snorting stage while crying. It's a good thing I was alone :) Would definitely recommend!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I Loved the story, but not the narrator. Will continue the series.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This book starts a Series and the romance is secondary to setting up and world building. Had some interesting premises (the "lucifer") and funny moments. Sam had more interactions with the other characters than his supposed romantic partner Gideon. The book doesn't show the progression of feelings so you are left wondering how they got from being standoffish officemates, to "Gideon has a sweet side", to "Gideon is the only one Sam trusts to keep him safe" to they love each other at the end. Joel Leslie is always an excellent narrator and his character voices are fantastic, although the sexy times are over the top, LOL.
I will listen the next book to see how the investigation fares and if they catch the bad guys. Hopefully there will be more romance between the MCs. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book had it all. I knew I loved this book when the very first page broke down the definition of what job advertisements mean.
Sam is a human working as an admin for a super natural organization. He’s awesome. Smart, funny and adorable.
Gideon is a sexy one night stand turned co-worker… oops. He’s a grouchy demon.
This book has tons of laughs, twists and turns, and some really scary sad bits. Very scary bad guys.
Excellent world building. I’m so glad there are more books. I’m gonna read them right now! Louisa Masters is a great writer.
I listened to this book on Audible. Joel Leslie did an excellent job.
Ps: I read this for Smutty Book Club. There were only two sex scenes, but they were hot. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book made me laugh I really loved it! On to the next one!!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5What happens when your one night stand suddenly starts working at your work…A cute & funny MM PNR. Loveable story between happy human Sam & grumpy demon Gideon. Loved the dynamic between Sam & Gideon. Alistair was another great character. Great start to the series, can’t wait to read book 2.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Only a couple sex scenes but funny and charming
