Dog Collar Crime is a quick, lighthearted read that launches a fun series.

Lucie and Frankie are the outliers in their respective crime families. They're determined to live the straight and narrow, staying out of "the life" while remaining close to their families. Their mob boss families are a dummy-downed, g-rated version of The Sopranos.

I enjoyed the dogs and Lucie's determination to keep them safe.

I mostly liked Lucie and Frankie, though I grew weary of Lucie's constant inner monologue with references to Frankie's hot body, his winning smile, how she can't live without him, how he's absolutely perfect, how his touch sends her over the edge, and on and on. While there are a whole lot of sexual references here, there is absolutely no graphic sex. It's all just referenced to.

The big twist didn't surprise me, largely because I didn't see anywhere else the story could go. The ending felt completely implausible.

The narration is excellent and kept me entertained.
