About this audiobook

Dangerously addictive, The Secrets of Us is a pulse-pounding exploration of a disturbed psyche and the bond between two sisters desperate to escape a troubled past.

Foster sisters Krystal and Nichole have always been there for each other, so when Nichole is committed to a psychiatric hospital after trying to kill her husband, Krystal drops everything to defend her.

Scarred by a hard upbringing, Nichole and Krystal managed to construct comfortable lives for themselves. Krystal became a respected lawyer, and Nichole was happily married to an architect—until Nichole starts raving that her husband isn’t her husband, believing that he’s an imposter.

Driven by fierce loyalty, Krystal starts asking questions, but she’s not sure she can bear the answers. Her investigation leads to the sisters’ dark shared past…to a horrible tragedy and a well-guarded lie that cemented their sisterly bond.

But that lie can’t kill the truth—the battered, gasping, clawing truth that’s coming for them both. Now Krystal and Nichole must both fight for the lives they’ve built before they’re consumed by the one they left behind.

I went back and forth about who did it. The ending was good!

Felt like it drug on the first 1/2 wondering where it was going when they did the flashbacks of when they were younger. Then when things were starting coming together and secrets start coming out it ended. Left me hanging not knowing how it wrapped up.

That was the worst ending. Waste of my time and ruined the entire book.

I genuinely hated the ending of this book. It left me feeling unfulfilled. Everything else was great. Caught me at the beginning. Super crummy. I don’t understand the characters motives and whether or not they were all telling the truth.

This book cuts out so much, 10-20 seconds at a time, many times, maybe it’s something wrong with the app ??‍♀️ but I only got to chapter 11 and couldn’t take it anymore. Book was good otherwise.

The plot started out so well but the book seemed as if it was a rushed ending. I wish they would have given us more information on Nicole

Great book until the ending. Zero satisfaction for any of the characters

Difficult to listen to at times due to the graphic nature of the writing however, it was very well narrated and had some rather dark plot twists

Sad story! Felt sorry for the girls! Too much yelling & drama for me!

This started off strong, then was drawn out and kind of mid through the middle and the plot twist was kind of corny. It felt rushed and as if it was missing chunks

Another great read from Lucinda Berry!

It all started with me wanting to know if Nicole was really at fault with their house getting burned and led to Aidan, her husband, getting hurt.

Things escalated quickly since this is a quick read. A lot of secrets got uncovered and matters began to fall into place and pieces began to fit and made me understood what caused nicole from committing such things.

Trauma, negative experiences, abuse and lies can really make people snap and do things. Mental health and mental conditions was written and delivered well. The plot twist was also done really well and the finale, though it may not be super mind blowing, it still surprised and shocked me as I finish the book.

I've enjoyed every book I've read by Lucinda Berry. This one was no exception. The narrators did a great job. The one narrating Nicole was a tad overdramatic and yelled too much...I felt a more understated performance was called for, but I still think she did a great job nonetheless.

Once again Lucinda Berry will make you fee the story deep in your bones! Life is a mess, that's for sure! And I always asking Why foster carers who don't like the kids are foster carers??? Is social care workers blind or something????
Anyway, childhood trauma always sticks with kids .. ..

Not bad, but not fabulous. Ending is weak and not enough loose ends connected.

Every cringe trick an author can use. Animal abuse, faking mental health, women shown in poor light. Please skip.

Ok Lucinda Berry is my literal favorite author and this book didn’t disappoint! I love the way she writes, I love the way she makes the characters come alive, I love the way she makes your jaw drop with her plot twists. The ending of this one wasn’t my favorite but I still devoured this book in 12 hours. Can’t wait for her next one!
