About this audiobook

Her children have a deadly secret. Can she uncover it before the police do?

Melissa Byatt’s life in Forest Grove seems as perfect as can be: a doting husband, three loving children and a beautiful house in a close-knit community. But appearances can be deceiving.

One evening, Melissa arrives home to the unimaginable: her husband lies stabbed on the kitchen floor, their children standing calmly around him…With horror, she realises that one of them is to blame. But which one? And why would they attack their own father?

Her loyalties torn, in a split second she decides to protect her children at all costs—even if that means lying to the police. But when someone in the neighbourhood claims to know more than they should, Melissa discovers that some secrets are beyond her control…

Can she find out the truth of what happened before the rumours spread? And can the family unite to escape the spotlight of scandal—or are none of them as innocent as Melissa insists?

Wonderfully entangled story that kept me wondering, however I felt that there was more to the grandmother story ( the one who died) and I missed the reason why she run to the forest, or ? Otherwise brilliant.

To what cost do you protect your children? This book kept me turning the page. It kept me thinking. My heart broke for the idea that this has occurred for any mother.

Definitely a British author. Interesting twists but it took a third of the book to grab my attention.

Wall of Silence. Tracy Buchanan. 2020. Belinda comes home to find her husband on the floor bleeding from a huge cut in his stomach and a gash on his head. Her twins and their sister are standing there mute and terrified. She thinks one of the children has stabbed her husband and wants to protect them. She is determined to find out what happened so doesn’t tell the police about the children. We are told in a prologue who stabbed him but we have to find out why with Belinda. There are hints from the beginning that this is not a happy family and we are leaked clues throughout the novel. This is an easy read and the plot twists keep your interest. Not a great book but good enough to read on the treadmill!

This book had everything that a mystery and suspense fan would ever want. It was an incredible, page turner with a perfect amount of background story to make the reader feel emerged into the character’s lives but also keeping you on your toes and guessing. The author managed to put a new take on the twists and turns of complicated family relationships and the bonds that hold families together. Don’t be fooled. You think that the whole thing is going to be explained in just a few chapters...but guess again. I can almost guarantee you will have trouble putting it down and closing the cover and you will not in your wildest imagination guess the ending.

A plot that shows how destructive secrets can be. By the end, it seems everyone had some secret that weren't sharing with someone else--all of which snowballed.*No one shares the infidelities of Patrick with Melissa.*Patrick's parents cover up his actions prior to them moving to Forest Grove.*Patrick's parents cover up for him around the time of Joel's death.*Patrick's mother seems especially adept at trying to misdirect a questioner if they start getting too close to the truth.*Melissa hides the depth of grief she experienced after Joel died and what it caused her to do.*Lilly and Lewis hide what they remember of their father's actions around the time of Joel's death.*All 3 children are complicit in the opening scene. They keep their pact of silence except to their grandfather.
