About this audiobook

One wrong move, and she meets a guy with all the right ones…

Talia Dalton lives her life on cruise control. Despite her successful career as a professor, she prefers protecting her broken heart to taking chances. She’s calm, cool, collected, and steady. Until the morning she takes her eyes off that familiar road and almost runs over the sexiest man she’s ever seen. It may not be the best way to start the day, but it might be the type of shake-up she needs.

Male dancer Derek Grant has goals, and nothing is going to get in the way of achieving them. As a graduate student and the sole caretaker of his ailing father, he hasn’t much time for relationships. Then Talia crashes into his life. Sweet, pretty—and so buttoned-up that he can’t wait to help her cut loose.

For Derek, falling in love was a beautiful accident waiting to happen. And it might be exactly what Talia needs—if she’s willing to let go of the past and embrace every surprise Derek has to offer.

I was hesitant to start this book. I had LOVED the last one and a part of me was worried this would let me down. Then I read the description and I was even more hesitant. I mean a male stripper, judge mental I know but I just couldn’t see him holding a candle to Bodhi. But I needed an audio book while I worked and this is what I had. As you can tell by the rating I was not disappointed. Derek was just an incredible character and part of me wants to go back and read it so I can highlight all the romantic, loving things he told his Tallie girl.
Tallie was just as I suspected. A buttoned up, rule following l, hurt woman. She was hurt by an ex in college and she realizes that somehow that has lead her to leading this “safe” and rather boring life. She has an incredible friend, Fletch who is there for her (I’m hoping there’s a book with him in it) and of course her crazy, loving, overbearing family. The connection she feels for Derek is strong enough that she gives it a chance and she seriously gets on of the absolute best men out of it.
Derek, I cannot say enough about this man. At the very beginning of the book he tells her that dancing (he’s not a stripper bc he doesn’t take it all off) is what he does, not who he is. He had an accounting job but had to quit to take care of his sick father. He sacrifices soooo much for his dad, how can you not automatically fall for him! Add to that his intelligence, obvious love for Tallia, loyalty and romantic side and *swoon* he was easy to fall for.
Her family was also in this book which was great bc I love her family. You get to see a little more of her dad this time which was a good view into their childhood. The type of father and man he was. It added a lot to the family dynamic. Derek for right in with the family as well. Standing up for Tallia to Ben first thing, showing his commitment and loyalty. Interacting with Louise showing his love of children. Man this was such a good book I stayed up way too late listening to the ending. So glad I didn’t let my judgement of the book cause me to miss out on this incredible story.
