About this audiobook

Being a bartender by night and law firm runner by day helps make ends meet for Kathleen Turner. Mostly. Being 23 and single in Indianapolis wasn’t exactly a thrilling adventure, but then again, that’s not what Kathleen wanted. At least, not until she met Blane Kirk.

Navy SEAL turned high-profile attorney, Blane is everything a woman could want. The only problem? He’s her boss.

Blane is known for playing the field and the last thing Kathleen needs or wants is to get involved with him. But when her friend is murdered and it seems Kathleen will be next, she may not have a choice.

Now Blane is the only thing standing between her and people who want her dead, including assassin-for-hire Kade Dennon. Beautiful but deadly, he’ll kill anyone who gets in his way, even the woman who makes him question everything he’s become.

The deeper she sinks into the web of lies and murder, the more Kathleen realizes she can trust no one if she’s going to survive. No one is innocent. Not even Blane.

Kathleen Turner works as a runner for a law firm in Indianapolis by day and by night she works as a bartender. When she finds her neighbor, Sheila, dead in her apartment, Kathleen is determined to find out who murdered her friend. Sheila had been working as a high class call girl, so it seemed possible that her straight-laced boyfriend, Mark had found out and killed her, but when Mark turns up dead, Kathleen realizes he was murdered by the same people that killed Sheila. The connection leads her to a company called TecSol that is trying to create a computer program that could rig an election. The connections continue to mount as evidence points to the law firm where Kathleen works as being involved including the handsome partner, Blane Kirk.

No Turning back is a good romantic suspense story with a few twists and turns to keep it interesting. During the last half of the story, Kathleen's involvement becomes a little melodramatic as it spills into situations that aren't very believable. Also, since the story takes place in Indianapolis, it would have added extra enjoyment if more city landmarks had been included, but overall this is an entertaining book, opening an entire series about Kathleen Turner.

Strong characterization and lighthearted writing makes this a really great, cozy read for a Sunday afternoon! If the story itself was a bit slow at times, it was more than made up for by the strong setting up of the premise and the life of the heroine, and if the technical jargon goes a bit over your head, the way the heroine navigates through the sudden upheavals in her life are quite realistic and very satisfying. There is nothing overly surprising about the setup of the novel - shy, quiet girl suddenly finds herself embroiled in something that consists of people constantly trying to kill her, and of COURSE right around the same time two drop-dead-gorgeous-guys are madly in love with her [insert slight sigh here]. Regardless, the dialogue is sharp and the writing style neatly turned out! Would definitely read this again on another cozy afternoon. On to book two!

Love Kathleen and Blaine. Suspense held 3/4 of the way through the story; I do enjoy not being able to figure out who did what early on in a book!

I enjoyed this romantic suspense with plenty of action that moved right along. Interesting first person story that was sometimes scary, funny or eye-rolling and the heroine fluctuated between clever and wacky. Altogether it worked. Kathleen finds her neighbor murdered and her attorney boss Blane helps her out.

I wasn't sure if I wanted to read No Turning Back, but after starting the first chapter, SO glad I did! This was a nice surprise and so much better than all the bridal contracts I've read. I don't think there was a single moment of boredom. Each chapter kept me wanting just a little bit more before I decided I needed to go to bed ... at 4am. So much suspicion surrounding Blane, Kade, the firm and so many others that the outcome was such a surprise! All the characters had purpose and there was just enough doubt to keep me guessing who the killer was! New twists are thrown in to keep you moving and hoping Kathleen's heart wouldn't be ripped to shreds!I had to finish it and only too happy the next book 'Turn To Me' is published! I'm all too willing to neglect my own work to dive into the sequel!Enough on the review! I'm nose diving into 'Turn To Me'.

Posted on Romancing the Book's blogReviewed by UrsulaReview Copy Provided by the AuthorI’m glad I didn’t know that this was written in first person before I started reading it, otherwise I might never had read this entertaining, well-written and witty book! I usually stay far away from first person, but I think I’ll be watching for more from the Kathleen Turner series! Kathleen is an undervalued, underpaid and overworked 23 year old. She works a full time job at a lawyer’s office as a runner then supplements her income bartending at night. The story opens with humor right away, with Kathleen tripping and landing face first into her boss’s lap, during a meeting! She successfully avoids him for quite some time after that, that is, until her neighbor across the hall is murdered and Kathleen is the unlucky one to find the body. The story is a constant thrill ride…when you aren’t laughing that is! Kathleen’s boss is an ultra handsome, golden boy that takes her on as a client when Kathleen finds the body of her neighbor, and things never are the same. With lawyers, goons, politics, technology, murder, intrigue and strong physical attractions, No Turning Back is hard to put down. There are twist and turns and Kathleen isn’t sure who to trust, including her handsome boss Blane! I had a little trouble with the fact that Kathleen sees herself as nothing special, and the story seems to go along with that fact, but suddenly, after two years of not even having a date, she has the attention of her boss, the son of another of the partners in the law firm, a very handsome and mysterious man named Kade, not too mention a couple of others. Even the male bartender she works with doesn’t seem to notice her until she dresses as Brittany Spears for Halloween…so, either she is beautiful or she isn’t. She has a couple of ‘escorts’ trying to talk her into the business because men will go crazy for her. So, is she beautiful or just built? I don’t think the story flows well with the respect to Kathleen’s appearance; the inconsistency is too much to overlook. One other thing that doesn’t seem to be answered is about Kathleen’s new neighbor. What her exact role in the story was is perplexing. Was it by chance she moved in or was it planned? All of that being said, this book is well worth the time to read it! The ‘issues’ I had with this book are miniscule compared to the entertainment value of the story!

It'll keep you guessing, and it'll have you falling in love with more than one character and demanding more, more, more! One of the most important things to me in any story is dialogue, and the dialogue in this book is fun, natural, and fluid. Each character has a recognizable voice and a distinct personality, and the narrator, Kathleen, is engaging and lovable. The action scenes are very well-written, and you can see them playing out in your head. The plot is tight and not at all predictable. Last but certainly not least, the romance is yummy. I'm declaring myself Team Kade and waiting eagerly for the next book!
