When rookie lawyer, Jessica Ford recieves a call from her boss, John Davenport, to meet the First Lady at a D.C. Hotel, she is thrilled at such a high profile assignment. Two hours later, she lies near death in a coma, the only survivor of a terrible car crash that killed the First Lady. Even though Jess can't remember anything about the crash or what led up to it, she is suddenly the target of several attempts to kill her. The Secret Service don't believe her at first, but as everyone else involved with the situation begins dying around her, she knows she is in terrible danger. She finally convinces Mark Ryan, head agent on the case, to believe her, and he helps her escape to an unknown location. But Jess isn't sure who she can trust...even Mark.This is a fast-paced action-packed book from start to finish. Karen Robards is one of my favorite authors because she combines a suspenseful story with a hot romance and seldom disappoints.

Jessica Ford was asked by her boss, Attorney Davenport, to pick up the First Lady. The First lady had fled the White House and was holed up in a bar. Without being noticed Jessica and The First lady quietly escaped the bar and entered the car provided by Mr. Davenport. The next thing Jessica remembers is waking up to a surreal scene with shadowing figures, a burning car, and flashing helicopters. Once Jessica was known as the only survivor of a crash which killed The first Lady, she became the target of killers. Karen Robards is one of my favorite authors. Her books always include action, romance, murder, and mayhem. What a great combination. Jessica seems like a mousy women but she has a backbone of steel. The man who helps her escape death, Mark, is a handsome well-built secret service agent. Thrown together constantly they fall in love. A very good story.

Jess Ford is a young lawyer who is sent by her boss to escort the First Lady. Something goes horribly wrong and then there is a car crash which kills the first lady and two others with Jess as the lone survivor. However, someone is out to kill Jess. In steps Mark Ryan head of the Secret Service Team he ends up being Jess' protector and through this roller coaster novel they fall in love.This novel was classic Karen Robards. Full of suspense and romance, a recommended read.
