From beginning to end I was captivated by the quirky characters and their tumultuous journey to happiness.

This seemed like an interesting setup, but it kind of fizzled for me. The hero was a fool or an ass too often for me to care that much for him. I would start to warm to him in between times and then a tiny challenge would pop up and he would fail to be reasonable or kind or steadfast or anything that might impress me. And their relationship felt sort of half-hearted for so long that I was feeling bored before the end rolled around.

Side note- I know it's more impressive and dramatic for the hero to power through extreme cold and get frostbite and risk being frozen forever and all in the end- but he's capable of tracing back and forth between anywhere he's ever been or can see. So he could totally dash forward until he starts freezing and then trace to somewhere warm, rest up, have a snack, whatever, and then literally return to the exact same spot he left and just pick back up. Work smarter not harder vampires! ;) lol.
