About this audiobook

New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Kresley Cole delivers a scorching tale about a foreboding vampire who lives in the shadows—and the beautiful assassin determined to hunt him down—in the “sensational” (RT Book Reviews) second novel of the Immortals After Dark series.

Centuries ago, Sebastian Wroth was turned into a vampire against his will. Burdened with hatred and alone for ages, he sees little reason to live. Until an exquisite, fey creature comes to kill him, inadvertently saving him instead.

When Kaderin the Cold Hearted lost her two beloved sisters to a vampire attack long ago, a benevolent force deadened her sorrow—accidentally extinguishing all of her emotions. Yet whenever Kaderin encounters Sebastian, her feelings—particularly lust—emerge multiplied. For the first time, she’s unable to complete a kill.

And when the prize of a legendary month-long contest is powerful enough to change history, Kaderin will do anything to win it for her sisters. Wanting only to win her, forever, Sebastian competes as well, taking every opportunity—as they travel to ancient tombs and through catacombs, seeking relics around the world—to use her new feelings to seduce her. But when Kaderin is forced to choose between the vampire she’s falling for and reuniting her family, how can she live without either?

3Rd book in this series that I?ve read. I?m trying to read them in order since I came across this author through an anthology book shared with Gena Showalter called ?A Deep Kiss of Winter?I really like this story and I?m starting to get hooked on the series since I want to know what is going on with the rest of the Valkyries, Vampires, Witches and Wares. This story is about Sebastian a Vampire and Kaderin a Valkyrie. Sebastian is a tired vampire who was turned against his wishes by his brother. Kaderin is a ruthless Valkyrie who has no emotions what so ever. A village has contacted her to exterminate Sebastian the Vampire. What they don?t know is that thanks to the villagers they go through an adventure that changes their lives as they know it.

    Kaderin and Sebastian. *sigh*

I loved this one for so many reasons, the first being that I adore IAD series! But come on, an immortal scavenger hunt? How fun is that?

I liked the first two, but they were just okay. This one, I loved. The characters were a lot more engaging, the stakes felt more real, and their relationship felt earned. I was tearing up by the end and grinning like an idiot.

No Rest for the Wicked by Kresley Cole is a 2006 Pocket Star publication. I was provided a copy of the book by the S&S XOX pert official street team of XOXO After Dark. After a very long gap between reading the first book and this second book, I can say I am finally able to read a paranormal romance/ Urban Fantasy novel again without cringing. I have heard some tantalizing rumors that Ms. Cole is all set to publish a new book into this series, so I am frantically trying to catch up so I will be ready for the new release.I really liked the first book in this series but didn't know how things would progress from there, so I started this one off with a cautionary optimistic approach. The story gets off to a super hot beginning as we meet Sebastian, a three hundred year old reluctant vampire and Kaderin the Cold-Hearted, a Valkyrie, with deep rooted hatred for Vampires. She had fully intended to to kill Sebastian too, but the oddest thing happened... Yep, you guessed it.. Kaderin is Sebastian's ?bride?, and she has awakened his senses for the first time in three hundred years. But, Sebastian isn't the only who feels the undeniable force. Kaderin finds herself unable to kill a vampire, for the first time ever. So, Sebastian lives another day, but he is now obsessed with locating his bride which leads him to attempt to trace her, a talent vampires weren't thought excel at. But, Sebastian was determined and succeeds in locating Kaderin once again, only to find himself embroiled in an odd sort of competition/treasure hunt that will take them several interesting locales. There is an underlying theme here that deals with prejudice, as different beings believe themselves to be better than others, with Vampires coming in at the bottom of the heap. In fact, jokes were made about Kaderin ?slumming? with a vampire, just like her sister did. Kaderin and Sebastian are both very intriguing characters, each having endured much pain in their lives. The Hie ( or treasure hunt) is an action packed adventure and I really got caught up in. This was kind of unique thing to include in a steamy paranormal romance novel, but it worked out great. This book was very different from the first one in the series, but Bowen is prominently featured in this book too. Although I still think the first book has a slight edge over this one, this is the best paranormal/urban fantasy series I've been into for a while. I think it's the combination of action, unique beings, and deep emotional connections between the characters. The story has an edge to it, and an element of suspense as well as some smokin' hot love scenes. There is no doubt I am up for the next book in the series. 4 stars

Narrator was once again a delight. This series wouldn't be the same without him. I love this one with Kaderin and Sebastian. Grief's role in this story with Kaderin and Sebastian's dead sisters is why this book is one of my favorites.

After reading Kresley Cole's entire Immortals After Dark series back to back, I was pleasantly surprised to find that when I think back to No Rest for the Wicked (Second in a series of Seven (thus far!)) what stands out the most in my mind is the hero, Sebastian. A tortured soul who wants only to end his long, lonely existence, Sebastian is one of those extraordinary characters in romanceland that just melts your heart. One of the Vampire race in Cole's world, Sebastian became a creature of the night hundreds of years ago when his brothers turned him into the very thing he hated the most, rather than see him die.Sebastian never wanted this existence and certainly didn't ask for it. For centuries he lived alone, burning with hatred for the brothers who turned him and longing for death. When the infamous Kaderin the Coldhearted, a fierce valkyrie warrior who's emotions where mercifully taken from her after witnessing the death of two beloved sisters, happens upon him- she's happy to put him out of his misery. But something about the lithe, deadly handsome Vampire stays her hand. Their first encounter awakens them both from years of numbness and Sebastian discovers he indeed has a reason to live- to protect the woman meant only for him.Kaderin is determined to forget Sebastian, but he doggedly follows her into a legendary game of the Lore- and when they discover the prize is something that could turn back the years and right the wrongs done to them, what was once only a game of competition, becomes something much more serious. The game will take them across the globe, battling fierce competitors, until Kaderine must decide between the one thing she's always wanted- and a star-crossed love that cannot be denied. Can't tell you how much I enjoyed this story. Kaderine and Sebastian are a brilliant coupling and their steamy encounters burn up the pages. More than that, the emotions that come to life between them touches your heart, especially in the once forlorn Sebastian. If you are late to the game with this series like I was, don't hesitate to start it- NOW. It's a winner in the paranormal romance genre!

Kaderin the Cold Hearted is a Valkyrie Warrior who was bestowed the gift (or curse) of having all emotion taken from her because of the strength of her grief when her twin sisters were killed in battle by a vampire of the Horde. Sebastian is a vampire unwillingly turned by his brother who refused to give him up to death. It is Kaderin's life's purpose to kill as many vampires as she can, but when she happens upon Sebastian who has long been imprisoned by his own hatred of himself she finds herself hesitating. When Sebastian follows Kaderin, determined to assist her in winning the Hie (a supernatural version of The Amazing Race) they find themselves irrisistably drawn together. No Rest for the Wicked was an exciting adventure story. The tasks which Kaderin undertakes to win the contest are myriad and interesting. After their explosive first meeting, the gradual building of the relationship and trust between Kaderin and Sebastian was satisfying and did not feel as rushed as some. If you like vampires, legends, excitement and romance this is definately a story you should try.

    Synopsis
Sebastian Wroth has had enough of his existence until the moment Kaderin the Cold Hearted arrives to take his miserable life. After awakening something within him, Kaderin becomes his sole reason for living but she is not called "Cold Hearted" for nothing and cannot understand why she is inexplicably drawn to him. Now the two are competitors in the Talisman Hie, a legendary treasure hunt with a prize that may alter both their pasts and the future they may share together.

    Review
    Absolutely fantastic!

Sebastian's strength and intense vulnerability are the perfect mix. He is simply adorable and the newest addition to my hero harem. Kaderin takes a little getting used to but she is a wonderful kick-ass heroine and her journey toward loving and accepting Sebastian makes for excellent reading.

The Talisman Hie serves as interesting backdrop to the romance and characterization, especially for Bowen. Besides, who doesn't love a good treasure hunt with exciting action scenes?

The story is well-written and the humor laugh-out-loud funny. I particularly enjoyed the comments of the other Lore characters at the Talisman Hie gathering, especially the trolls.

Finally, although time travel is not one of my preferred plot devices due to the inherent paradoxes, Cole manages not only to make the concept logical but to resolve it in a satisfying way.

Looking forward to reading Bowen's book next - should be interesting to see how he overcomes his curse...

What a fantastic follow-up to A Hunger Like No Other! Kresley Cole will bring you into an amazing story from start to finish. I've totally become enthralled with the world Cole has created with all of her mythical creatures from the main characters to all the curious secondary characters. From the start of the story I warmed up to Kaderin and Sebastian. With most novels I read it usually takes me a few chapters for to fully warm up to both the hero and heroine. With No Rest for the Wicked, I was instantly connected to Kaderin and Sebastian. The chemistry between these two is superbly intense and their sexy times were just as steamy. Throughout the whole book I was anxiously waiting for them to be together in mind, body and soul.

As with the previous installment, A Hunger Like No Other, I wasn't blown away by this book. As a matter of fact, I only read it because I purchased it alongside book #2 and I felt like it was a waste not to read it. In hindsight, I shoulda just sent it back, but I'm one of those people that when I have the book in my hands, I'm gonna crack it open and just start reading.?

It was just as cheesy as the previous book. Not necessarily bad, just not MY kind of book. I'd say it's good for what it is - a romance novel, albeit a bit clich?d. If you like quivers and shivers and thrusts and wet cores (snicker), then give it a go. If you're like me and prefer more emotions, more snark, and less of the above, try the Kate Daniels series, The Edge series, or something along those lines.?

Sebastian Wroth didn't want to be made a vampire, but his brothers made one of him anyway as he lay dying. He has hated his existence for 300 years and when a small woman with a wicked sharp sword comes to slay him he doesn't but up a fight.Kaderin the Cold Hearted, most ruthless vampire hunter of the Valkyries hasn't felt anything sense thousand years ago when she was granted her wish to be emotionless after her sisters were killed in the Valkyrie-Vampire War. But now as she's about to kill the vampire who doesn't lift a finger to stop her she halts, and hesitates. The unimaginable happens, Sebastian's heart begins to beat, he's found his Bride the only woman who can make his become alive again - and Kaderin feels for the first time in thousand years. Things get bit hot and heavy and Kaderin is freaked out beyond sense and flees Sebastian's Castle.Kaderin dashes off to compete in the Lore's most infamous scavenger hunt game 'The Hie' to loose Sebastian from her tail - but he finds her and is determent to help her and win her even though she swears she hates him and will get rid of him. But it's very hard to fight fated attraction and soon both of them feel their control slipping. No Rest For The Wicked is yet another Immortals After Dark novel that you can't but down!Sebastian is wonderful, slightly awkward having been bullied in his human years for being too big and clumsy by the women in his village, which now sets interesting chemistry between him and Kaderin as he sets to win her into his life.Kaderin is tough as friggin' nails, she wants to be emotionless and seeing her adjust to emotions again is so funny. I especially loved when Sebastian notices her further away as the games are about to start when she flips Bowen the werewolf off and then turns to gape at her own lifted finger in shock. She's likeable but not as fun to read as Sebastian.Yes, I am officially addicted to this series! No Rest definitely solidified that with fast pace, sizzlingly sensual thrill ride with dragons, serpents and hidden treasures not to mention to scorching hot sexual attraction between Kaderin and Sebastian!A PNR must read series!

I enjoyed this one more than the previous two, and was happy to notice that the non-consensual sex didn't continue to be a theme.

However, I'm just not clicking with these books as I had hoped I would. While I enjoyed both the hero and heroine in this story, I'm not head over heels for the world in which this series is set. I find it hard to reconciled two thousand year old Valkaries talking like 16 year old mallrats. Most of the time, it seemed excessive and forced.

At this time, I'm going to step away from the series. That's not to say I'll never pick it up again, but I'm just not interested enough in them to continue reading.

I really enjoyed the story of Kaderin and Sebastian. I think the backdrop of the supernatural scavenger hunt, the Hie, provided an exciting plot. I'm enjoying getting to know the characters in the Immortals After Dark world that Cole has created. I enjoyed the first in the series, A Hunger Like No Other, but think in the characters had more depth in this story. I'm looking forward to reading the next in the series when the male isn't the aggressor, at least it seems that way in the sneak peek.

This book was set up very well from the beginning. The author quickly introduced you to the lead male and female, Sebastian and Kaderin. What I like about them is that their love was different from Lachlain and Emmaline's romance (Book 1: A hunger like no other) but it was just as engaging. In fact, I found this book to have a quicker pace as well as more better relationship development.Sebastian is just a gentleman. He worked very hard to win Kaderin's love. In fact, at times I wondered, what is Katja (his pet name for her) waiting...I mean people have given it up for far less effort on a man's part (LOL). In her defense, Kaderin is as fearless and competitive as any male counterpart I have read. She is so focused on her goals and what she wants. She is a fighter and will do everything in her power to be reunited with her sisters.I found myself wanting them to realize that they will heal each other if they let go of the past and focused on each other. But I guess that was part of their journey and discovery together. The author unwound this story very nicely. I couldn't wait to get to the end.I am excited that the second installment didn't disappoint me. I look forward to reading Book 3.

Kaderin's only purpose in life it to kill vampires and win the Hie (a twisted version of the amazing race) until she finds herself stuck with a vampire claiming shes his bride. She wants to run and continue on her mission to win the hie, and in turn win her sister's lives, but at the same time she can't resist him.

Not so much as steaming pages, but rather boiling water hot. Which is still pretty dang hot. This book has everything you could want, dirty fighting, sex, werewolves, vampires, Valkyrie, and anything else you can imagine. The writing is fast paced and you will soon find yourself sucked into the action, of which there is plenty of. I am not sure how I felt about the end because I really wish that Bowen could have done something...but hey, his book is next so I am sure we will see why. Great read. Loved it.

We briefly got a chance to know something of Kaderin the Cold in the first installment of this series. Her hero, Sebastian, we did not. We did meet his brother though. From the beginning of No Rest for the Wicked we find out that the brothers have not seen one another in years because Nikolai turned Sebastian against his will... and Sebastian is none-too-happy about this. When the emotionless Valkyrie, Kaderin, comes to kill him (as she has done with any vampire she can for centuries) they are both surprised that she holds back. Instantly attracted by some unseen force the two are thrust together by the cliched 'soul-mate' mentality of many a paranormal romance. That could have killed off the story pretty quickly but Cole cleverly plotted her story around a global treasure-hunt of mythological proportions compared to The Amazing Race. Add in a prize that both Kaderin and Sebastian would both be willing to risk their lives for and you have a pretty entertaining adventure. The romance itself was a little forced, and I personally did not like Sebastian's ways of trying to woo Kaderin. But his more beta-male personality was very refreshing and he was more gentlemanly than the Lykae we met in the first and second books. The plot was entertaining, the romance only a little dry and the ending will please most romance readers.

Kaderin and Bastian are a match made in well Lore. Kaderin is a Valkyrie who has hated and killed vampires all her long life particularly since they caused the death of her two beloved blooded sisters. Bastian was turned into a vampire against his will and has lived in seclusion for centuries, barely taking enough blood to live. When they collide, life gives them a second chance to come back to life though both are too stubborn to realize they are meant to be together, Kaderin in particular. She has entered the Hie which is a competition held every few centuries in which ummortals compete for a chance at a big prize and this one in particular is coveted.Kaderin learns of a way to possibly save her sisters but knows there's a chance she may never have Bastian in her life. Having realized she does love him, she's caught between a rock & a hard place. Full of laughter, adventure and steamy scenes, this book was hard to put down. When Bastian learns that Kaderin is fated to die on a certain night, he does everything he can to keep her safe. Kaderin however has other ideas that could not only get her killed but keep her from being reunited with her sisters. When tragedy strikes, it's up to Bastian to choose what to do & knows he's Kaderin's only chance at possibly being reunited with her sisters while risking the chance to never see her again. Will he be able to make the difficult choice? Only time will tell.

Another awesome book by Kresley Cole.

I can't get enough of the fabulously quirky characters of the Immortals After Dark series.

Sebastian is hot, with a side of yummy. I love that all he ever wanted was a family to love. Then he meets Katrina. Yes, she was there to kill him. But these things can be dealt with.

Katrina the Cold-hearted couldn't believe she didn't kill the vampire. She lived to destroy the retched vermin. Instead, she kissed him and he made her feel again.

What follows is an action-packed adventure. Sebastian is determined to win his Katia's heart and she is determined to win the Talisman Hye. Battles and hyjinxs ensue.
