About this audiobook

New secrets, old flames, and hidden agendas are about to send bounty hunter Stephanie Plum on her most outrageous adventure yet!

MISTAKE #1
Dickie Orr
Stephanie was married to him for about fifteen minutes before she caught him cheating on her with her archnemesis, Joyce Barnhardt. Another fifteen minutes after that, Stephanie filed for divorce, hoping never to see either one of them again.

MISTAKE #2
Doing favors for super bounty hunter Carlos Manoso (aka Ranger)
Ranger needs Stephanie to meet with Dickie and find out if he's doing something shady. Turns out, he is. Turns out, Dickie's also back to doing Joyce Barnhardt. And it turns out Ranger's favors always come with a price. . . .

MISTAKE #3
Going completely nutso while doing the favor for Ranger, and trying to apply bodily injury to Dickie in front of the entire office
Now Dickie has disappeared, and Stephanie is the natural suspect in his disappearance. Is Dickie dead? Can he be found? And can Stephanie Plum stay one step ahead in this new, dangerous game? Joe Morelli, the hottest cop in Trenton, New Jersey, is also keeping Stephanie on her toes---and he may know more than he's saying about many things in Stephanie's life. It's a cat-and-mouse game for Stephanie Plum wherein the ultimate prize might be her life.

With Janet Evanovich's flair for hilarious situations, breathtaking action, and unforgettable characters, Lean Mean Thirteen shows why no one can beat Evanovich for blockbuster entertainment.

Flame throwers burning up people, Ex husband living with her boyfriend, $40 Million dollars... Car Crushers.. And of course the famous Grandma Mazur finding a boyfriend losing him and finding another one who is a taxidermist that actually blows up some of his critters. What a hoot with such action packed fun. Another great book in the series.

Stephanie Plum has to be the most inept bounty hunter … or apprehension agent … that ever worked in Trenton (or anywhere). But she’s entertaining. First are the loony skips she goes after and the trouble she has taking them in. In this book she’s after Simon Diggery (grave robber and tax specialist), Carl Coglin (amateur taxidermist who specializes in exploding rodents), and Stewart Hansen (whose house Stephanie and Lula set fire to, causing a “happy” fire when the smoke from all the weed he had stored inside burns up). But those are just side shows. The REAL story is her ex-husband Dickie Orr and his law partners. Of course we have the usual tension between Stephanie and the two men in her life – Ranger and Morelli. The audio book is narrated by Lorelei King. She does a fine job, giving life to every character. I especially like her interpretation of Grandma Mazur and Joyce Barnhardt.

This one was just as good as most of the others. So much fun, and a good mystery too. I can really recommend this series for anyone who's feeling down and needs to cheer up. Just a little warning though: some quite gross stuff to do with a taxidermist. I hated that, but everything else was great.

I have read all of the Stephanie Plum novels so far and I just love these books. They are a very easy read and are something to read when you just wanna relax after a long day. They are just so humorous and I love all the characters, especially Grandma Mazur. It has a little bit of everything thrown in, while still being lighthearted.

I would recommend these books to anybody.

BOTTOM-LINE:Good addition with lots of extra but useful characters.PLOT OR PREMISE:Ranger needs Stephanie to find out what's going on with Dickie Orr, her ex-husband. Which she does, in normal Stephanie fashion - she brings the crazy..WHAT I LIKED:Dickie going missing is no big deal, but at least it's the basis for a decent plot. Sort of, anyway. But the exploding taxidermy makes up for it. Plus everyone's views on the cable company..WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE:Very little -- even Joyce and Dickie were okay this go around. The flamethrower was a bit over the top though.DISCLOSURE:I received no compensation, not even a free copy, in exchange for this review. I am not personal friends with the author, nor do I follow her on social media.

Book thirteen (ish) in Janet Evanovich's series about hapless bounty hunter Stephanie Plum. In this one, Stephanie loses her temper at her ex-husband, then becomes a suspect when he suddenly disappears. The plots of these are usually pretty forgettable, but, I swear, I was forgetting this one even while I was in the process of reading it. It was reasonably amusing, though. Not laugh-out-loud funny, but pleasantly silly in a fairly consistent way, which is about all I expect from this series. I am still annoyed by the way Evanovich keeps trying to write guys being sexy but misses the mark and hits "skeevy" instead. But, hey, at least there were no fat jokes in this one!

This 13th installment of the Stephanie Plum series is a winner! Along with an engaging plot, the mounting competition between Stephanie's men for her affections makes the book entertaining, as usual.

Lots of fun. Had me laughing. Who can resists the 3rd eye on a stuffed squirrel?

This was the usual fun Stephanie Plum novel. She goes back and forth between Ranger and Morelli. She is a walking disaster area causing destruction everywhere she goes. All the elements that make this a fun easy read are there. What set this over the top is Grandma's antics in this one. She definitely stole the show for me. It's like Janet Evanovich was following my mother around!!! I could not stop laughing most of the book.

After the movie, One for the Money (I loved it), I wanted to read the books. I was half happy and half disappointed (to be fair the first few books were better than the rest - I've read 17 or 18). The writing isn't anything special but there is banter and wit (which is waning). I love her grandma, the ex-hooker, and some other random side characters - that and the witty moments kept me coming back for more.By the time of the 5th book (or at least by the 10th) you would think she would start to get the hang of her job or get a new one - nope. At a certain point she is just a pretty woman of 30ish who can't pick from 2 men (or choose to move on from both), who is bad at her job, and relies on luck and the men in her life to save her (to be fair I think of one time she was saved by a woman). So why do I keep reading? In spite of how annoying she is, and how she is hopelessly in love with 2 mildly mentally abusive men? Despite all the half attractive or good guys being over 6 ft tall for some reason and all the other men are taken or ugly? The reason is the supporting crazy characters, and the fading wit.

Dickie Orr was involved. I laughed until I cried and I was so nervous I could barely read. The more I read, the more I love Stephanie.

Pretty good. I enjoyed the overall plot. Lula was less annoying than usual, and the over-the-top characters seemed reasonably toned down. It was a fun read.

Too funny! As always love Janet's color characters and performance by Lorelei King on audio! Love Joe, Lula, and Grandma Mazur as well as Ranger! Stephanie was married to Dickie the attorney for about fifteen minutes before she caught him cheating on her with her arch-nemesis Joyce Barnhardt (always good for a laugh and competition). Another fifteen minutes after that Stephanie filed for divorce, hoping to never see either one of them again.

Doing favors for super bounty hunter Carlos Manoso (a.k.a. Ranger). Ranger needs her to meet with Dickie and find out if he’s doing something shady. Turns out, he is. Turns out, he’s also back to doing Joyce Barnhardt. And it turns out Ranger’s favors always come with a price…(poor Joe)..

I'm really sad Stephanies sister Valerie seems to disappear from the series starting with this one. she was such a lovable character with her weird husband and silly kids.

The bright spot of this book was that for a short time everyone thought that Dickie Orr was dead. Unfortunately it turns out that Dickie isn't dead. This book kept my attention but I felt that it was ok but not great. I'm just hoping the next book has less Joyce in it.

As usual it’s a fun romp through the streets of Trenton with Stephanie Plum and crew. As I’ve said in other reviews of this series these are fun mind candy reads. They are formulaic, but for me they still work because I think the characters are hilarious.

Still funny... same kind of story as the others, except Stephanie seems to need a lot more rescuing than usual, and she didn't blow up a car. This is good stuff for listening to while commuting--vastly entertaining but if you miss a few paragraphs there's no need to rewind. I keep up with it because this is among the funniest stuff I've ever listened to. The characters just keep getting broader and broader.

The latest in the Stephanie Plum series is as funny as ever and contains all the usual characters. Grandma Mazur just gets better and better. No Stephanie Plum would be complete without the usual chaos of Stephanie & Lula and this starts with a scene of Stephanie almost choking her ex husband whilst planting a bug on him for Ranger, but when her ex husband ends up missing the police ask questions, of course her alibi is Morelli!

There were a couple of genuine laugh-out-loud moments in this but I don't understand Ranger's patience, nor Morelli's. Really Stephanie is spoilt rotten having both of them rescuing her on a regular basis! This time Stephanie has to visit her ex, Dickie Orr to plant some tracers for Ranger on him. This was a mistake, Dickie brings out the worst in Stephanie and she attacks him, which leads to her being a prime suspect when he disappears leaving a trail of blood!Dickie's partners start turning up dead and now Joyce, Dickie's new squeeze is looking to find Dickie and possibly to kill Stephanie, and as usual Stephanie is bungingling her way to solving the crime. It's pure mind candy, entertaining stuff but nothing serious.

For those who have been reading the Stephanie Plum series since One for the Money is not going to find anything new here as usual. That's neither a slam against nor praise towards the book. By now, most readers who managed to reach book 13 isn't really here for an intricate plot, spellbinding prose, or unique character development. We're basically here to see Stephanie go through another jam in both her personal and professional (as much as it is) life and somehow end up on top again, with maybe a car death here or a firebomb there to spice things up.Also, I've totally given up the 'will she or won't she' with either of the two men in her life and just treat each book similarly as to how Stephanie reacts to Tastykakes; they might not be nutritious, but it's something you might grab one (or thirteen) for whenever you're in the mood for some comfort food.Overall, Lean Mean Thirteen doesn't break the mold so don't expect too much and you'll probably find yourself enjoying it (or not) like with the previous twelve.

This is the first book that I have read in this series and I was not that impressed. I had heard that these book were wonderful so I thought I would give it a try. I did laugh at some of the antics in the book, but the basic story line was rather predictable. The amount of hard cussing in the book is also a personal problem for me. Some is OK, but there was too much in this one for my taste.

Pretty much par for a recent Stephanie Plum novel...which means it blurs in the with the rest. It would have been nice to see a few more clashes with ex-husband, Dickie—he brings out the best of her caustic side ("In the fifteen minutes we were married, you s****ed half the women in Trenton.")—but Coglin was a real treat. I hope we see him around once or twice in the future.

Evanovich, Janet, Lean Mean Thirteen, Stephanie Plum, Lula, the former hooker, Grandma Mazur, Joe, Ranger, Joyce, and a bomb-making taxidermist. And the ex-husband is missing. What more could you want? - hilarious, especially Lula and Grandma, - and a ranger assistant who sews the logo on everything, including underwear. We find out Ranger has a home - and Stephanie stays there.

I got my copy today. Been waiting a whole year for this. I love Evonovich's release dates. At least for the Plum series. So I'm done with it. And of course I loved it. Not as much as some previous ones, but its still got the Plum magic. There always seems to be one every couple years, thats just not as great as the others, but still noteworthy and fun.

Stephanie Plum has to rescue her sorry ex-husband in this episode of the life of a bumbling bounty hunter. The usual odder-than-odd characters abound: a grave robber, a taxidermist, a promising boyfriend for Grandma Mazur. I’ve not yet grown weary of Plum and her friends.

After taking a hiatus and reading a couple of different authors, I was glad to jump back into a Janet Evanovich book. Her writing is smooth and she makes it easy to embrace a character. Not many writers would be able to talk about exploding rodents and make you feel like you were right there when it happened and make you feel like you should check to make sure there’s not squirrel hair on you. Weird, yes, but true.I liked the family aspect of this book, and all of the Plum books. I am pretty close with my family and I like the fact that Stephanie’s family is pretty tight knit. Stephanie’s Grandma Mazur is by far my favorite character still. She comes in moderation, but never fails to please. All of the Plum books have had crazies, but the side bars in this book were VERY crazy. A guy who makes and sells stuffed, exploding rodents and a guy who steals goods off the dead to make money. The main thriller from this story really didn’t do it for me. SPOILER ALERT! QUIT READING IF YOU HAVEN’T READ THIS BOOK!At first, I thought Dickie disappearing was a great story. Stephanie would have to decide if she would help find her ex, but when she’s blamed for his murder, she doesn’t have an option. But when you find out Dickie isn’t really dead, the plot doesn’t thicken anymore. The scheme his co-workers had going on was pretty schiesty, but I felt there was still too much of the book left to know Dickie wasn’t dead. Now his co-workers and the firebombs, well I love explosives (I don’t use and or play and or want explosives, but I like watching movies with rocket launchers) and this aspect was cool, minus the people who got burnt in the process. In the end, I enjoyed the writing of the book, just not what was written. I gave it 2 bookmarks.
