About this audiobook

In this gripping thriller, America's greatest Western storytellers take you inside the dangerous world of an undercover agent-and the deadliest jail in America . . .

Hank Fallon knows what it's like to rot behind bars. To wallow in the filth of a rat-infested cell. To smell the pent-up rage of cutthroat killers and thieves. Fallon earned his freedom the hard way. He saved the lives of four guards, got released early, and became a detective. Then he went undercover, infiltrated a prison gang plotting to bust out-and barely made it out alive. Now they're sending him back. Behind the iron. Straight to hell . . .

This time, it's the ninth circle known as Missouri State Penitentiary. His mission: get inside the infirmary, look for a pregnant inmate named Jess Harper, and find out where her bank-robbing boyfriend hid the stolen cash. Problem is: a rebellion is brewing among the prisoners. Their rage is burning out of control. An all-out savage riot is about to explode. And Fallon's head is on the chopping block . . .

Hank Fallon is a former law officer who was married with a little girl to raise, until that was all taken away from him. Now, he is on a quest to locate all those responsible for the deaths of his wife and daughter. The lengths he goes to will keep you in the story for hours. Readers will enjoy the beginning of Hank Fallon in the first novel titled, Yuma Prison Crashout where the character’s trials begin with him behind bars. Now, that is one exciting adventure I highly recommend you don’t miss reading! Here in the next installment, we find Hank taking on another assignment for a detective agency and still on his quest to locate those responsible for all that he has endured. The stakes couldn’t be higher and while Hank knows he wants to locate those who need to face justice, he isn’t sure of the trustworthiness of his employer and son.The moment Hank is once again behind bars, and he doesn’t think he couldn’t be any worse off than what he has already been through before, he is about to be proven wrong! On top of that, what Hank finds out about those responsible for the destruction of his life and family is about to leave him with more questions than answers. While each book could be read as a stand-alone, the story of Hank Fallon continues and there is some flashback to give readers an idea of what Hank has been though before reading his newest tale. It was more enjoyable for me to read them in order. I think Hank Fallon is a strong leading fictional man, and readers will become engrossed because of the nonstop tension present in the plot. I was cheering for the good guys to win and truth to win out! I thought the surprise ending was a classy touch. Don’t miss reading this western tale and the action, suspense-filled story of Hank Fallon before diving into the third book titled, Dead Time with a fourth book coming soon titled, A Knife in the Heart!

It has been awhile since I've read a "western," but when NetGalley offered one for review by William Johnstone, I succumb. From past reading I've come to realize that Johnstone is one of the better writers in the genre and since his passing, his relatives have done an admirable job of continuing the standard. This book did not disappoint. I'd not realized though that it was a sequel, and although it was readable as a stand alone, I'm now left with the problem of finding the other book in the series. Oh well, there are worse problems. I found this to be a fast, enjoyable read, which although it can only be said to be like all of the genre it did not disappoint. Thank you, once again, Mr. Johnstone, et al.
