About this audiobook

"Impossible to put down.” —Kelly Link, author of Pulitzer Prize finalist Get In Trouble

From bestselling author Alex Grecian comes a folk horror epic about a ragtag posse that must track down a witch through a wild west beset by demons and ghosts—and where death is always just around the bend.

Sadie Grace is wanted for witchcraft, dead (or alive). And every hired gun in Kansas is out to collect the bounty on her head, including bona fide witch hunter Old Tom and his mysterious, mute ward, Rabbit.

On the road to Burden County, they’re joined by two vagabond cowboys with a strong sense of adventure – but no sense of purpose – and a recently widowed schoolteacher with nothing left to lose. As their posse grows, so too does the danger.

Racing along the drought-stricken plains in a stolen red stagecoach, they encounter monsters more wicked than witches lurking along the dusty trail. But the crew is determined to get that bounty, or die trying.

Written with the devilish cadence of Stephen Graham Jones and the pulse-pounding brutality of Nick Cutter, Red Rabbit is a supernatural adventure of luck and misfortune.

After listening to countless: thriller, fantasy, horror, sci fi I was pleasantly surprised! I wish I could give this book more stars. I was emotionally invested in the characters from the first chapter. Well paced, great action and feels that hit. I actually welled up with tears more than once. Great from start to finish

This was just okay to me. I enjoyed the folk lore in this and the atmosphere but I did feel like this could've been shorter and I didn't really connect with the characters. Generally I also do struggle with stories where the characters are going from point a to point b because I get bored after a while.

It does the job but felt like the author and editor changed her mind about where it was going moreso than it had twists and turns. Almost felt like a haunting or demonic story pivoted for climate change message or something. I am not a climate denier by any means, but it was pretty sudden and actually caused me to laugh. It's fine though.

    Red Rabbit
    by Alex Grecian
    Paranormal Western

Drawn together by chance a group of strangers ride along with Old Tom, a witch hunter, and a young child, Rabbit, as Old Tom makes his way to Kansas to kill a witch named Sadie Grace and collect the bounty. But Sadie knows they are coming and sends obstacles in their path, but were all of the dangers her doing or bad luck.

The blurbs posted don't give a complete outline of the story. It leaves enough out to make it a little misleading. To start, there are a lot of characters, and I mean a lot! And because the main characters all have their own perspective in this book, they should have a little intro... And Old Tom, his part isn't that big, but with how the blurb sounds, it's his story, but it's really not.

But anyway, I did like the story, though with all of the characters it did get overwhelming at times trying to separate them, especially when some other character's perspective gets tossed in. Sure there's a reason, but it gets overwhelming.

This is listed as a horror, but I don't see it as scary, but it is violent, dark, and gruesome which is why it is not suitable for readers under 18.

I listened to the audio, and the narrator, John Pirhalla, did a great job and had variations for the characters' voices, including the woman, but the 'music and singing' I did not care for. Yeah, I know TV Westerns were known for singing around the campfire, but this was jarring to hear it, sort of knocked me out of the story.

Good story, the plot moved at a constant medium pace, but something was missing for it to reach that next star.

One of the best audio books I have ever listened to. Spectacular all the way around. Characters were so well developed, and the scenes with the stronest visual descriptions were amazing. So powerful and well orchestraded, leaving no
Imagery to the reader's discretion. Powerful storyline and narrated to perfection, he is the best! It was the perfect combination of author and narrator, giving the reader everything and the kitchen sink. Loved 100 percent of this story.

One of the most intriguing novels I’ve ever read. Wonderful combination of western and horror/fantasy. Characters so vividly created, one can’t help but be moved by their situations. I’ve not felt this impressed with an author in a very long time.

I loved this book so much! This will be one that sticks with me fondly for many years. The author did an amazing job weaving a Western tale with Horror, with friendship, and Ghosts. Just simply amazing.
And the narrator was the cherry on top. I wish there was more in this vein.
To be clear, this is a bloody western action thriller, but in the spirit of buddy movies, like Bad Boys. The protagonists have each others' back, no question, and the people that end up tagging along are a pleasantly eclectic bunch, and are what elevates this story to such high regard in my eyes.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

The narration for this book was absolutely excellent. It kept me entertained and engaged in the story and I looked forward to when I'd be able to listen to more. I've never been huge into Westerns, but love horror - while this definitely had horror elements and supernatural characters, I didn't find it to be scary, just very entertaining. Also, I don't usually like stories with ghosts (I used to ghost hunt, and did it professionally as a guide for a decade) as they normally make me roll my eyes lol, but the ghosts in this story were unique and I appreciated them!

Definitely put this one on your list, is a great spooky season story!

A well written, and expertly narrated story, blending wild West with elements of horror, humor, and fantasy. I enjoyed the large cast of colorful characters and ominous villains in a harsh land. I felt the story ark was kind of weak.

A fun book. I liked all the characters and the story never felt like I'd heard it a million times. The story was the perfect length and did not ramble on too long.
