About this audiobook

What was supposed to be an Italian vacation for forensic anthropologist Gideon Oliver and his wife turns into a busman's holiday when their hosts' only child goes missing-and nearby construction workers unearth human bones. The family awaits Oliver's conclusions with both dread and cautious hope. But along the way, he'll expose some extraordinary deceptions that lay bare the long-hidden secrets at the dark heart of a highborn family.

It took me a while to get into this one. I'm not usually a fan of multiple points of view in third person narration in books. It added a little, not a lot, to this book. I sought it out because of the setting, and really did enjoy that setting. The characters of Phil and Carravale were fun. Could have done without most of the forensic bone details (which, I would guess for most people, is a big part of the appeal of this series!).

Gideon Oliver and his wife Julie are congenial as always. The mystery is built into a vacation jaunt to Lake Maggiore. The plot is rather forced and predictable.

This is a really fun book. It takes place in Italy and Gidion Oliver's wife is in this one. You get to learn things about bones and also some about how the police in Italy work. A great read!! I highly recomend this book!

This story is always good. I can never remember exactly what the solution is, although that it relates to the baby switch (which is the first chapter) is obvious. Interesting people.
