About this audiobook

An online dating match turns into a deadly cat-and-mouse game in this riveting and utterly original thriller

She met him through a dating app. An intriguing picture on a screen, a meeting at a downtown bar. What she thought might be just a quick hookup quickly became much more. She fell for him — hard.

But then, just as things were getting real, he stood her up. Then he disappeared — profiles deleted, phone disconnected. She was ghosted.

Maybe it was her fault. She shared too much, too fast. But soon she learns there were others. Girls who thought they were in love, who later went missing. She had been looking for a connection, but now she’s looking for answers. Chasing a digital trail into his dark past — and hers — she finds herself on a dangerous hunt. And she’s not sure whether she’s the predator — or the prey.

This book started off great and captivated my attention; however, as the story went on it lost its fizzle. It was a confusing blend of the MC childhood with her father and Adam whom she met online dating that ghosted her and she fell in love. Both were very toxic relationships. The plot was there, but it just didn’t mesh well for me.

Wren Greenwood has been pushed into trying a dating app by her best friend. By day, Wren secretly writes advice columns as Little Birdie - but no one knows this, or do they? When she meets Adam, she feels an instant connection. They do everything together, until suddenly, nothing. Adam ghosts her. As Wren tries to come to terms with this, she begins investigating and discovers that she isn't the first woman he ghosted. An appearance by Jones Cooper and The Hollows area will be familiar to Unger fans. I enjoyed this, but there were some gaps in the story. Also, women do stupid things in the name of love, but this was a bit dangerous, and very foolish!!

Wren Greenwood, a successful advice columnist, finds herself a victim of a too common 21st century ploy: the Romance Scam. Lisa Unger introduces the lonely, lovelorn Wren in her latest: Last Girl Ghosted. Although she is capable of dispensing insightful counsel, she feels hypocritical and burdened by taking on the despair of her readers. At her best friend’s urging, she joins a dating app in hope of filling a void in her life with a relationship. Wren is particularly drawn to one profile-the owner of a security company who quotes Rilke. It seems that they are perfectly suited to each other, and Wren quickly finds herself in a romantic whirlwind. She feels safe enough with this man to share some of her closely held secrets about her traumatic childhood. When her paramour disappears without a trace, Wren devotes herself to trying track him down. She learns along the way that the man’s motives were not what she had thought. Wren is tracked down and questioned by Bailey, a private investigator who has been hired for a related case. Their attraction begins to grow as they search for answers together. Wren is conflicted because she still has feelings for the missing stranger, despite his alleged actions. When the search brings Wren and Bailey back to her hometown, she is surrounded by memories of her horrific past. It is difficult for the reader to cheer for Wren when she keeps making bad choices and sabotaging her own efforts. Last Girl Ghosted is a perfect example of a genre blend of Romance/Suspense that unfortunately fails to achieve credible balance. The romantic plot becomes more of a diversion that is both cringe-worthy and trite. Unfortunately, Last Girl Ghosted is a novel with too much romantic foolishness and too little genuine thrills. Thanks to the author, Park Row and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an unbiased review.

This book was not what I expected... and not in a good way.Going by the blurb, I anticipated a thriller about the dark side of online dating. It started like that, but then it went in a TOTALLY different direction for the bulk of the book, only to return to the dating storyline in the last third. Meanwhile, it meandered into topics such as survivalists, PTSD, alcoholism, domestic abuse... resulting in an excessively long and repetitive read.As for character development, some were fleshed out, while others made a brief appearance and were, well... ghosted. Also, I was confused whether one of the characters, "Robin," was real or imaginary. This was my second book by Unger. I read Fragile years ago and remember enjoying it. But this one... not so much. I slogged through only because I wanted to know who the culprit was. I'm not sure it was worth it. Maybe I would have been better off reading spoilers. The end was disappointing.

Boy, is this a book for the times. Lisa Unger always writes exciting psychological thrillers, but she’s really outdone herself this time. Wren thinks she’s found the perfect man through an online dating service, but then he disappears and along with him, so does his online presence and his phone is disconnected. Then a private investigator comes looking for him. A client’s daughter has disappeared, and they think Wren’s boyfriend is involved. He may also be involved in the disappearance of several other girls. And yet, I felt this book took on so many different issues, it never really dealt well with all of them. Readers will enjoy it, but I wonder how many, like me, are left wondering at the decision Wren made about her baby at the end is realistic.

Last Girl Ghosted by Lisa Unger

    “Think twice before you swipe.”

An interesting picture on a dating app

    The first date

Fell in love fast and hard…

    And then he was gone.

Maybe it's her fault but don't all women say that?
    “I moved too fast”
    “I shared too much.”
But when she learns later that there were other girls. Girls that disappeared. Now she knows it wasn’t her and she wants answers. Following the digital trail his and hers she finds herself on a dark and dangerous trail. But is she the only one hunting for the truth or is someone else already have her set as their prey?

I don’t know about you but I always enjoy Lisa Ungers books! This one is a dark and disturbing read, especially because of the whole dating app thing I don't know about now but they were very popular a few years ago so to read about something that could actually happen or has happened just adds to the creepy factor! Its character development was great! The book is well written and with Lisa Unger’s own unique writing style and the twists and turns you have a great Mystery/thriller! Happy reading everyone!

Thank you Park Row books for sharing this book with me in exchange for an honest review!

I really enjoyed Lisa Unger's last book, Confessions on the 7:45. (my review) I couldn't wait to read her latest book Last Girl Ghosted."She met him through a dating app." That little sentence opens up a wealth of directions for a book to go...Wren seems to have it all - and on the surface she does. When she meets Adam she thinks she's found the one. Until the day he leaves her with one last text and disappears. She's been ghosted. Instead of saying good riddance, Wren is determined to find him. Someone else is also looking for Adam - a private investigator looking for Adam's last girlfriend as she's gone missing...I liked the premise, liked Wren, liked the PI and the possibilities Unger's plot held. Wren has a secret in her past and I really wanted to know what it was. She revealed it to Adam right before he left, but the reader has no idea what it is. Roughly halfway through the book Unger takes us back to Wren's childhood and we relive her past. Unger has come up with a background that also offers up lots of possibilities. As the book heads towards the final pages and resolution, that initial 'I'm behind you Wren' feeling started to dissipate for me. She made some choices that I had a hard time with and honestly couldn't believe anyone would make. The ending was a bit too much and tied up a bit too pretty for me. Unger is a talented writer and I will be picking up her next book. Last Girl Ghosted was good, but not great for this reader.

Wren has a date tonight. She is not a big dater. But, the guy on the Torch app quoted from one of her favorite authors. Adam is not a jock, like you usually see. He looks normal and just right for her. These two become an item…until Wren is ghosted. Then a private detective shows up. He is sure Adam is responsible for some other missing girls.Wren is a character with a tragic past. Wren changed her name after the tragedy that took her family. She now has created a famous advice column/podcast called Dear Birdie. She also thinks she has her past well hidden. But, she is not as protected as she thought.Bailey Kirk, the private detective, knows exactly who she is and he knows her past. He is determined to track down Adam. But, things go wrong! Very, very wrong! This is the best book by this author…hands down! There are so many layers and twists and turns. I swear…I could not stop reading and when I could not read it for…well life…I was thinking about it.Need a FANTASTIC thriller! RUN…DON’T WALK to get this one!I received this novel from the publisher for a honest review.

This was a decent psychological thriller. It was relatively fast paced and I read it quickly. As I read, I definitely had my suspicions about who Adam Harper was. Wren's story was interesting but I don't know that she could have kept her true identity hidden as long as she did. If you are looking for a quick and easy to read thriller, than this is a good choice. Thanks to NetGalley for the digital ARC.
