About this audiobook

In a delightful follow-up to Written in the Stars, Alexandria Bellefleur delivers another queer rom-com about a hopeless romantic who vows to show his childhood crush that romance isn’t dead by recreating iconic dates from his favorite films...

Brendon Lowell loves love. It’s why he created a dating app to help people find their one true pairing and why he’s convinced “the one” is out there, even if he hasn’t met them yet. Or...has he? When his sister's best friend turns up in Seattle unexpectedly, Brendon jumps at the chance to hang out with her. He’s crushed on Annie since they were kids, and the stars have finally aligned, putting them in the same city at the same time.

Annie booked a spur-of-the-moment trip to Seattle to spend time with friends before moving across the globe. She’s not looking for love, especially with her best friend’s brother. Annie remembers Brendon as a sweet, dorky kid. Except, the 6-foot-4 man who shows up at her door is a certified Hot Nerd and Annie...wants him? Oh yes.

Getting involved would be a terrible idea—her stay is temporary and he wants forever—but when Brendon learns Annie has given up on dating, he’s determined to prove that romance is real. Taking cues from his favorite rom-coms, Brendon plans to woo her with elaborate dates straight out of Nora Ephron’s playbook. The clock is ticking on Annie’s time in Seattle, and Brendon’s starting to realize romance isn’t just flowers and chocolate. But maybe real love doesn’t need to be as perfect as the movies... as long as you think your partner hung the moon.

Author

Alexandria Bellefleur

Alexandria Bellefleur is a bestselling and award-winning author of swoony contemporary romance often featuring loveable grumps and the sunshine characters who bring them to their knees. A Pacific Northwesterner at heart, Alexandria has a weakness for good coffee, Pike IPA, and Voodoo Doughnuts. Her special skills include finding the best Pad Thai in every city she visits, remembering faces but not names, falling asleep in movie theaters, and keeping cool while reading smutty books in public. Her debut novel, Written in the Stars, was a 2021 Lambda Literary Award winner and a 2020 winner of The Ripped Bodice Awards for Excellence in Romantic Fiction.

It was okay but compared to book 1, it fell kinda flat to me.

"He'd fly her to the moon if it made her happy."

    This was so cheesy.
That's okay though, I needed a cheesy romcom with just the right amount of smut to get me through the day!

Funny, sweet, quick read that may make you believe in love and second chances.

The follow up to 'Written in the Stars' focuses on Annie and Brenden (Darcy's best friend and brother) - the former visiting Seattle before a big move to London, the latter looking to convince Annie that romance isn't dead. What follows is a tourist trip around the city attempting to recreate cinematic magic moments with a lot of spectacular failures.

Too ambiguous and inconsistent characters. The original theme was totally lost.

While Annie is in Seattle visiting her best friend Darcy, she spends time hanging out with Darcy's brother, Brendon. He's had a crush on Annie since they were teens, but now she starts to return his feelings. Trouble is, she's about to start a new job in London. Is she willing to give up everything to give their blossoming romance a try?

This is the second book in the Written in the Stars series, and it's another low-angst rom com. The conflict could be stronger, but it's a fun read with well-developed characters.

Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Genre : romance, contemporary, LGBTQ+, humor, adult

TW : public urination, sexually explicit scenes, parental abandonment (mentioned)

So I listened to Written in the Stars a year ago (I absolutely LOVED IT) and I legit just found out there are actually TWO sequels. I knew I lived under a rock, but this is next level ??‍♀️

I enjoyed this one, although some parts had me rolling my eyes a little bit, but with no drama, it's not a rom-com? that's not to say I didn't find myself giggling a lot in this book, to the contrary!

    FAVE THINGS :

    • the banter throughout the book

    • Annie and Brendon's meeting at the beginning of the book

    • how present Darcy was as a secondary character (she was one of the MCs in the previous book)

    • the audiobook narrator ?

    • the epilogue

What I liked best about this one is there were fewer assumptions and more honest talking. The characters 90% of the time knew what the others were thinking and where they stood. My biggest pet peeve with romance is the assumptions and miscommunications.

I cannot get over how amazing this book was. Thank the stars that this exists - I wanted to see Brennan explore finding his ever after since Written In The Stars, and I so got my wish. Someone PLEASE tell me that Alexandria is writing another the story that gets Margot hooked up with her person. I need to know that story - I know she’s a bit of a minor character but her personality is so interesting I’m imagining all sorts of hijinks in her love story. I don’t even care if it’s not as probable or realistic that literally ALL of them have a happy ever after... I just desperately want that to happen for her and this is escapist romantic fiction after all.

4.25/5 stars! The heroine wanted to surprise her best friend by stopping by at her place before she moves to another country for her job. Instead of her best friend giving her a tour of Seattle, it falls on the hero, the brother of the heroine's best friend. Their relationship changed as the heroine starts to hero as a attractive man whereas the hero, who had a crush on the heroine when he was younger, began to woo her to change her mind of the idea of love. This is my first Alexandria Bellefleur book and it won't be the last. I enjoyed the story, the characters, the friendship dynamics, and the siblings' relationship. My favorite character is definitely the hero, who is my favorite hero type and swoon-worthy. I liked the heroine but there was an instant near the end where she got annoying; otherwise she wasn't bad at all. I liked the author's writing style and vibe so I look forward to reading more books in the future.**Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the review copy.**
