About this audiobook

A USA Today Best Book of 2021!

"Bromley does a deft job at keeping the twists and turns of this reunion realistic and utterly romantic.” —USA Today

Inspiration can come from the most unlikely—and inconvenient—sources.

Kara Sullivan’s life is full of love—albeit fictional. As a bestselling romance novelist and influential bookstagrammer, she’s fine with getting her happily-ever-after fix between the covers of a book.

But right now? Not only is Kara’s best friend getting married next week—which means big wedding stress—but the deadline for her next novel is looming, and she hasn’t written a single word. The last thing she needs is for her infuriating first love, Ryan Thompson, to suddenly appear in the wedding party. But Ryan’s unexpected arrival sparks a creative awakening in Kara that inspires the steamy historical romance she desperately needs to deliver.

With her wedding duties intensifying, her deadline getting closer by the second and her bills not paying themselves, Kara knows there’s only one way for her to finish her book and to give her characters the ever-after they deserve. But can she embrace the unlikely, ruggedly handsome muse—who pushes every one of her buttons—to save the wedding, her career and, just maybe, write her own happy ending?

"A fun and sexy romp, with chemistry that gave me all the feels!" —Jennifer Probst, New York Times bestselling author of Our Italian Summer

"Add this book to your TBR list immediately!" —Sarah Smith, author of Faker

Kate Bromley

KATE BROMLEY writes romantic comedies and contemporary romance. She lives in New York City with her husband, son, and her somewhat excessive collection of romance novels. (It's not hoarding if it's books, right?) She was a preschool teacher for several years and now focuses full-time on combining her two great passions -- writing swoon-worthy love stories and making people laugh.

Talk Bookish To Me literally spoke to me as a Bookstagrammer and pulled me in. The MC (Kara) herself is a Bookstagrammer and that is about all I knew going in. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. But really, who wouldn’t?! When you have a story that involves an enemies-to-lovers trope, a MC with the same hobby as yourself, romance, banter, and DOGS!! The perfect scenario for a debut rom-com.

Kara (MC) is a romance writer (with a deadline approaching) living in NYC with a Bookstagram hobby. Her BFF is getting married and is part of the wedding party. She soon finds out her ex-boyfriend from college, the one who broke her heart and is the pedestal to every other boy she dates, is on the groom’s side. He ends up needing a place to stay and Kara volunteers her couch. He has sparked her writing and possibly her heart. Kara knows she needs to keep Ryan close so she can finish her novel, but will he break her heart again?

Bromley does an exceptional job with the chemistry between Kara and Ryan and the banter is top notch. Kara is independent, bookish, a little quirky, and strongly fierce, which made her that much easier to love. Ryan throughout the majority of the book is a sweetheart. I do have to say the ending was not my favorite, and everything was wrapped up too tidily with a little bow. I did not like the big secret reveal with Ryan and made it hard to like him towards the end of the book, which is why this was not a 5 star read.

Ultimately a cute, fun, quick read. Laugh-out-loud funny at times and still had moments of vulnerability, which had you in your feelings. Definitely a book for fans of Emily Henry as it is somewhat reminiscent of Beach Read.

Story was cute with many bookish references especially about Bookstagram. Very meta ??

The lead up to the steamy parts was significantly better than the steam itself *womp* That was lacking for me.

Lots of emotional moments that had me really reacting especially at the wedding.

Overall an enjoyable story. Definitely think I would have enjoyed it more if I’d read instead of listening as the narration was not my favourite. I found a few characters exceptionally irritating and I realised that they may have been due to how they were portrayed.
