- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Sunday at the Sunflower Inn by Jodi ThomasWhat is better than a wonderful small-town romance? Exactly what happened in this book…more than one romance happening in that wonderful small town! What I liked: * The return to Honey Creek…the wonderful small town with romances happening* The couples that found their HEA-HFN * McCoy Mason: builder, loner, injured, just out of the hospital, rootless, in Honey Creek to heal with his crusty distant grandfather* Sadler Mason: McCoy’s grandfather, owner of historical property, under pressure from big business to sell, a quiet man deeper than he appears* John Mason: McCoy’s father…would like to get to know him better* Melody Avenida: seventeen, in love, has controlling parents, in love with Mike* Michael Alderton: Army Private, foster system graduate, loves Melody* Jessica Ann Mackenzie – Jam – café owner, single, has dreams with roots in Honey Creek* Tucson Smith – Army Sergeant, career military, CID officer, travels the world, big and a bit abrasive with a soft center – for Jam.* Mr. Winston: so nice to catch up with this warm, generous, caring man and watching his journey with Miss Lilly* Seeing how Pecos and his family are doing* The “murder” mystery* The Mason family history and learning why the land is so important to them* The fairy girls and their story* Doc Baylor Blanton: veterinarian, kind, loves animals, might have an interest in a cowboy that is not a cowboy* Roberto and his cousin, Leo, that helped McCoy out in the beginning of the book* That the story was believable, drew me in, made me care, and fall in love with the characters* All of it really except…What I didn’t like: * Everything I was meant not to like…won’t list the people or events but there were a few* Having to wait for the next book in the seriesDid I like this book? YesWould I read more in this series? Definitely! Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington-Zebra for the ARC – This is my honest review.5 Stars
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Sunday at the Sunflower Inn is the first book I’ve read by Jodie Thomas. I was initially drawn in by the colorful cover art, but just as quickly absorbed by the charming characters of Honey Creek, Texas. I love a small-town scene and story. I haven’t read the previous books in this series (yet) but feel this works great as a standalone. The story covers diverse characters of different ages and overflows with romance and mystery. Some romances are marginally steamy, but all is done in good taste. It’s difficult to pick a favorite character because I like several of them but for different reasons. I suppose I connect with Jam the most though. I’m satisfied with the ending and don’t want to leave Honey Creek!Disclosure: #CoverLoverBookReview received a complimentary copy of this book.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5My first venture to Honeycreek, Texas. If I could find it, I would move there. It is a quick and calming read during one of the most weird experience in my life. I was evacuated from my apartment because of rain damage to the third floor. It went on forever-only six weeks torn out of my husband and my life but this book offered me a refuge and peace. There are various couples with romantic attachments but my favorite was Mr. Winston and Lilly, daring to make a change and not asking for much, they found love. All of the couples are unique and they are gentle romances and never make you want to turn away.Humor is Jodi Thomas's unexpected genius. A little too perfect sometimes but when you are in turmoil, that is what you need and the laugher from her pages justifies. Very happy to find Jodi Thomas!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I am a fan of Jodi Thomas. She brings a sweet charm to her books like Robyn Carr. This newest book is no different. I really enjoyed all of the characters in this book. Although, I have to admit that my favorite couple is Charles and Lilly. Charles may have experience that Lilly does not but that does not mean that Charles loves Lilly any less. In fact, he is very patient with her.On the other spectrum of couples, you have the youngest couple with Melody and Mike. They took their friendship to the next level as girlfriend and boyfriend. Their first kiss was sweet. Plus, how can you not fall in love with someone when Mike says this to Melody as he leaves for college..."Be happy every day while I'm gone because every day will be one day closer to when I come home."This book had a bit of mystery as well. Yet, the people of Honey Creek come together to solve the mystery. If you are a first-time reader to this author, you will want to check out this book and the rest of the books in this series. Sunday at the Sunflower Inn is the perfect book to pack in your spring/summer bag!
