About this audiobook

A senseless murder. A sizzling adventure. Clare Westbrook is a survivor who built her law practice from sheer determination -- and an unexpected inheritance. Now Clare, carrying her lover Tony Sonterra's child, has taken the biggest risk of all: saying "yes" to his marriage proposal and finally burying her lifelong commitment phobia. So why is fear running through her veins and haunting her dreams? Sonterra is fired up to leave Phoenix for small-town Arizona, to replace the town's missing police chief and target a lethal desert crime ring. Clare's willing to stand by her man, but her fiancE won't be the only one flirting with danger on the job: as a special investigator for the D.A.'s office, Clare is plunged into a race to find a missing child whose mother was murdered -- a hot case that puts Clare's safety, and that of her unborn child, on the edge. For in a place where secrets have nowhere to hide, the promise of Clare's bright future could vanish in the blink of an eye....

Tony Sonterra has taken a job as part of a task force working out of Dry Creek to stop the "coyotes" who killed a young friend of his. While Tony is working as the chief of police, Clare is offered a job with the county prosecutor's office as an investigator. After their move to Dry Creek, Clare is summoned to Loretta's where she discovers that Kip has been cheating and is in trouble with the law, leaving Loretta grieving and struggling to figure out the rest of her life. Of course, as has happened in the past, an attempt is made on Clare's life, but now she has more to protect since she is pregnant with Tony's child. One Last Look is a good ending to the Look trilogy. There are several mystery story lines involving many suspects and clues, and while it is a little tough to keep them all straight, it does add layers to an already engrossing book. The romance between Tony and Clare takes a back seat to the drama and action, but there is still a satisfying conclusion to their love story. Character development is a part of the story, but it is clearly driven by the plot. In addition, magical realism has had some part in all three books, but it is more prevalent in this book and does add to the story as a whole. Overall, One Last Look convincingly completes the Look trilogy.

Finally Clare and Sonterra tie the knot, but not before moving to Dry Creek, Clare having someone try to kill her, multiple times, Sonterra becoming the police chief of the town, and bringing in the Feds to take down the coyotes smuggling Mexicans…all in a days work!

Clare Westbrook's law practice is struggling, she's newly pregnant and her lover's declared his intention of moving to nowhere's-ville to take an undercover job investigating a human trafficking ring, and her best friend's husband is a) cheating on her, and b) probably going to jail for fraud. Needless to say, Clare's not having the best week ever. It's too bad this is the concluding volume in the trilogy - it would be interesting to see what kind of trouble Miller wrote Clair into next.

Well, I’m finished reading the 3rd book from this trilogy. All three books in this Clare Westbrook Series were a pleasure reading. The final book, One Last Look had all the same aspects I enjoyed from the previous books in the series. Clare and Tony have such great chemistry. I have really enjoyed Emma’s character over the series. She has grown up a lot. And, as I’ve said in my other reviews in regards to this series. There are some pretty funny scenes.I am sorry to see an end to this trilogy. I think Linda Lael Miller would have had no problem continuing on with the series. There were several scenarios that could have played out. Clare could have become a cop. Loretta, Clare’s best friend, had a stronger role in this last book. So that could continue. Maybe she could have hooked up with Eddie, Sonterra’s partner. Emma would have blossomed in future books as well. I want more…
