About this audiobook

Spring has sprung in Lake Eden, Minnesota, but Hannah Swensen doesn't have time to stop and smell the roses--not with hot cross buns to make, treats to bake, and a sister to exonerate!

Hannah's up to her ears with Easter orders rushing in at The Cookie Jar, plus a festive meal to prepare for a dinner party at her mother's penthouse. But everything comes crashing to a halt when Hannah receives a panicked call from her sister Andrea--Mayor Richard Bascomb has been murdered...and Andrea is the prime suspect.

Even with his reputation for being a bully, Mayor Bascomb--or "Ricky Ticky," as Hannah's mother likes to call him--had been unusually testy in the days leading up to his death, leaving Hannah to wonder if he knew he was in danger. Meanwhile, folks with a motive for mayoral murder are popping up in Lake Eden. Was it a beleaguered colleague? A political rival? A jealous wife? Or a scorned mistress?

As orders pile up at The Cookie Jar--and children line up for Easter egg hunts--Hannah must spring into investigation mode and identify the real killer...before another murder happens!

Poor, Norman. More complex plot and less recipes. Less hokum.

By far the worst of the series and the last one I'll ever read. It was truly awful from start to finish.

This was just ok. I'm invested now so, I'll keep listening to future books. Killer was obvious once key information was found. More than half of sone of the chapters were recipes. Hannah's internal monologs were annoying and not needed. They read like filler and not information to move the story. I also didn't like that Andrea had nothing to do. Did she quit her job and I missed it??

Nothing surprising. I use to love these books but it seems each book is the same story over and over. The last good plot was Hannah’s marriage.
I really dislike the conversations with her inner mind. Almost seems they are added to increase the word count.
Please stop putting the recipes at the end of the chapters. Some are so long, if I am in the middle of something and my hands are not free I have to suffer through it.
Not sure I will listen to the next book in the series. A little sad because I have listened to every book so far.
Every book ends the same way with Hannah going to visit the killer alone to question them then after they give full details on why they committed the murder they try to kill Hannah and either Norman or Mike show up just in time to save her. Pretty boring and predictable.

I just can't anymore. I lost interest in Hannah awhile ago--but kept reading because I felt I was so invested into the series. But I can't anymore. For the last 10 or so books, I have alternated reading and listening to the audio books. This particular book I listened to the audio----and I felt like I listened to a cookbook being read to me with tiny parts of a story in between. There is no story here. Recipes and food and talking about eating the food that was just described - I mean really? And being talked to like you're a child. The over explanation of EVERY detail...like we got it. We know what a text is. In this particular book Andrea is over the moon because Hannah allows her to make a "vegetable salad" all on her own---like she's a two year old. The way everyone is constantly praising Hannah and all of her stupid decisions and acting like she is SO perfect and delicate has just gotten the best of me. ((I mean---do Michelle or Aunt Nancy ever get paid for all the work they do for her so she can "sleep in" ????))
I truly enjoyed this series in the beginning. I wish the people of Lake Eden well but unless there is a MAJOR change in the way these stories are going, I'll have to sit the rest out.

Hannah Swensen is still trying to adjust after her "husband's" murder in the previous book. Afraid to face the condo where it happened, she is staying with her friend Norman, at his house. The mystery this time is the murder of Mayor Bascomb, and the prime suspect is Hannah's sister, Andrea. Hannah has to find out what was the motive for Mayor Bascomb's murder and who did it.The mysteries in this series (now at #27) have reached the point of almost being non-existent but when you are invested in the characters, the mystery isn't important. They do seem to have a few too many recipes.

Triple Chocolate Cheesecake Murder by Joanne Fluke is the 27th A Hannah Swensen Mystery. This is not a book that can be read on its own (new readers would be lost). Hannah Swensen is currently living at Norman’s since the death of her husband, Ross. Hannah and Moishe are not ready to face the condo and the memories it holds. Mayor Bascomb is upset with Andrea’s husband, Bill because he arrested his nephew who was driving drunk. Bascomb has threated Bill’s position and Andrea has taken offense. She decides to chat with Mayor Bascomb and try to make him see reason. Unfortunately, Andrea ends up losing her temper after Bascomb makes some derogatory comments. That night, Andrea takes a piece of Hannah’s triple chocolate cheesecake to Mayor Bascomb to apologize for her actions (which will have readers laughing and applauding) and finds him murdered in his office (I am surprised it took this long). Triple Chocolate Cheesecake Murder is easy to read with steady pacing). This book can easily be read in a couple of hours. Hannah Swensen and all our favorites are back for another adventure. There is plenty of eating, coffee drinking, cooking, baking, and cat cuddling in this cozy mystery. Hannah is worried about Moishe because he cannot return to their condo. He gets upset each time they approach it. What is a cat mama to do? Hannah is busy baking up Easter treats at The Cookie Jar. The death of Mayor Bascomb has a multitude of suspects (how did this man get elected). The investigation takes a backset to cooking, baking, eating, coffee drinking, and chatting. The mystery is simple and can easily be solved early in the story. I prefer a more complicated mystery, but this whodunit does suit the book. I do feel that the last several books in this series are not on par with the earlier ones (like someone else is writing them). There is repetition of information and there are more recipes than content. Recipes are included for the various dishes whipped up in this tale. Triple Chocolate Cheesecake Murder is a story for fans of the series who want to know how Hannah is faring after the death of her husband and wish to catch up with gang in Lake Eden. Triple Chocolate Cheesecake Murder is a lighthearted culinary cozy with a surfeit of suspects, a fearful feline, a distraught sister, a scrumptious cheesecake, and a murdered mayor.

TRIPLE CHOCOLATE CHEESECAKE MURDER Is a thin mystery wrapped around 32 recipes.Bakery shop owner Hannah Swenson was sitting in Mayor Bascomb’s outer office waiting for her sister Andrea to finish her appointment. Andrea was very upset because the mayor wanted to fire her husband, Bill, the town’s sheriff, because he had arrested his nephew for driving while intoxicated. It was not the first time but the mayor had always managed to get the charges dismissed. This time, Bill refused to do so. The mayor said Bill would never be able to get a job again. Even though she was very angry, Andrea kept her temper down until the mayor insulted her as well. She finally raised her voice, told him he was a bully, and called him a pig. Hannah then heard a slap, followed by a loud crash.Andrea flew out of the office and said she knocked him over. As they left the building, they wondered if might have broken his chair.Later that evening, they were at their mother’s condo with the mayor’s wife.. Both women listened to the story and said they would have done the same thing. His wife said, “He’s so full of himself he’s the only man I’ve ever met who can strut while he’s sitting down!” (Sic)After Andrea left the condo, she called Hannah to come to her. She was at the mayor’s office where she wanted to apologize for losing her temper. When she got there, she found his body, killed by a blow to his head. The plot continues as Hannah, working with the department, tries to learn who killed him, especially since Andrea was the number one suspect, but not there were several other possibilities. (One can only wonder why this man had been elected mayor repeatedly.)I can understand the emphasis on food, considering Hannah’s occupation, but if everyone ate as much pastry and drank as much coffee as they do (cookies and coffee for breakfast and throughout the day), they would all be hyper and have serious health problems. The recipes are primarily pastries made for Hannah’s bakery. One of them, “Easter Jelly Bean Nest Cupcakes,” doesn’t say when to put them into the recipe though it does so in the story itself. The directions for the recipes are very long because Joanne Fluke includes a lot of preparation details. Fluke is unnecessarily wordy. She mentions all the people at a gathering, then renames them when saying who was there when a comment was made. “The group” or “everyone” would have sufficed. I also don’t think they would have gotten an autopsy report within a few hours. There are a lot of references to previous books but they are not explained. For example, what happened to Hannah’s ex-husband that made her and her cat not want to go back into their house. Why did she and her close friend Norman design a condo together but she can’t decide whether he wants to marry her and vice versa?

I enjoy this series and look forward to each new book. But in this book it seems Hannah was in her own head a lot debating things people have said . Second guessing what Norman says to her most of the time. After Andrea has an disagreement with the Mayor about an arrest her Husband Bill has made regarding th e Mayor's nephew. She slaps him out of his chair and leaves . She gores back later to apologize and give him apiece of Triple chocolate cheesecake she finds him dead. She is now a suspect in his murder. Now it is up to Hannah to help the police solve the murder as there are just to many suspects in this case who wanted the Mayor dead.

It’s hard to choose what I like best about this series. Is it the mysteries to be solved, the great recipes to try out, or just reading about the everyday lives of the characters that’s so enjoyable? In this installment, Hannah and her cat are still rooming with Norman, recovering from the trauma of her relationship with Ross. The much despised mayor was found murdered in his office. The unfortunate finder was Hannah’s sister Andrea, now a suspect. But there are so many people who had reasons to dislike the mayor narrowing down this playing field is no small task. Mike and Lonnie are even allowing Hannah to unofficially help them this time. There are enough clues along the way that the reader has a good chance of solving the murder even before Hannah does. Now, if Hannah could only solve the mystery of why she can’t see that Norman is the perfect guy for her, all would be well in Lake Eden, Minnesota.

Triple Chocolate Cheesecake Murder by Joanne FlukeBook starts out with listing of works by the author in this series, table of contents and dedication and acknowledgement pages.Hannah is at the mayor's office and his secretary is having some cookies. Andrea, Hannah's sister has a husband who is a cop and keeping her cool with the mayor but she is telling him off about an arrest her husband made.Andrea had gotten so mad at the mayor she hit him and he fell out of his chair.Later Andrea goes to the mayor at work with a triple chocolate cake to apologize but he's dead...Hannah works with Mike and Loonie this time and they exchange information with one another. There are potentially so many that could've done it... Love catching up with all the characters over the years I've read this series. Even if you are reading this a s first timer you will feel comfortable as some things about the characters will bring you up to date with the past books. With all the Easter parties and events Hannah is busy with Easter treats and we, the reader get the recipes to try for ourselves. They sound so yummy just reading about them. Hannah has been living at Norman's because her cat won't go back to the condo, Ross had lived there with them and the family has taken care of redoing the whole place for her return. Her sister Michelle lives there til she returns.Love how this one all comes together. Index and baking conversion charts are listed at the end.I received this review book from Kensington Books via Net Galley and this is my honest opinion. #TripleChocolateCheesecakeMurder #NetGalley

Nothing, absolutely nothing happens in this book without putting on the coffee pot and having a fresh cup of coffee. It became predictable, redundant and boring. The dialog was simple, trite and unoriginal. The same applies to the recipes - they all default back to the days of using Cream of something soup as a base for everything. There is a murder without much mystery, a relationship without much romance, a business without any interesting interaction and a novice detective running around as if she is a cross between Nancy Drew and Columbo. A total miss for me. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
