':\][lpibulgf5465erwqa - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This childhood book still ranks as one of my favorites. I remember sitting on my grandpa's lap and listening to him read it to me often. It taught me about happiness and the importance of playing in the mud.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Reason for Reading: Ds read aloud to me as his reader.Even though labeled a Level 2 this reader is very easy to read. I find the "Levels" are very inconsistent with this series anyway. A really cute story of a small pig who lives on a farm where the farmer and his wife love him very much and think he is the best pig in the world. Pig loves to wallow in mud of course, but one day Mrs. Farmer is fed up with the mess of the farm and she cleans up the whole thing including small pig's mud puddle. He can't stand the cleanliness and runs away. He finds several muddy, dirty places to settle down but none work out until he finds the perfect place in the city. Unfortunately he can't read and when he wakes up in the morning he is stuck in the cement of a new sidewalk. A funny story; Ds and I both enjoyed it very much. I really enjoy Lobel's earlier work the best!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5A cute story...One of my husband's favorites from his childhood....I wonder if this is why he likes junkyards so much?;)
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I loved this book! It was so cute and just a really fun read. I liked this book for a few reasons. I liked this book because of the illustrations. Something I found interesting about the illustrations was that they were all very similarly colored. It seemed as though the colors were the same, but the actions were different. I also liked the shared reading capability of this book just like Arnold Lobel's other book Mouse Soup. It has a consistently repeating phrase throughout the book "Then he sits down, and sinks down, into the good soft mud." The main message of this book is to appreciate what you have at home, I believe. Small Pig runs away when the farmer's wife cleans up his mud, and because of this, ends up in a city stuck in cement. I loved this book and would definitely keep it in my future classroom.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This adorable book is about a small pig who lives on a farm and loves to play in the mud. He plays in the mud until the farmers wife cleans her house and the entire outside, including the pigs pen. The pig gets very angry and runs away. He runs to a variety of places, meeting different creatures while he is looking for his mud. The little pig goes back to the farm witht he farmer and his wife where the raid has brought new mud for him to play in.* To be used in B-2 classroom as a read aloud.
