It was a good story. I enjoyed learning more about Jasper.
I enjoyed the connections from the first book.

I am not a fan of the narrator’s but also toward the end it sounded like a completely different person.

But it was a nice and good read.

the story is fine i guess but oh my god i would rather funnel spoiled milk into my ears than listen to whoever voiced jasper speak ever again. it completely ruined the audiobook for me. i wish i had video of my face during some parts. it was PAINFUL to listen to him read the intimate stuff. i even laughed from how ridiculous he sounded at some points… and it wasn’t the words he was saying, it was the way he was saying them. lol. when the story was from milo’s perspective, that reader made jasper seem so amazing and desirable then it would switch to jasper’s perspective, and that reader made hate both the characters. i was like- “why does he make these dudes sound so pathetic?” anyways, this was long but i needed get these thoughts out of my head. give it a shot if you want but it broke me with three hours left and i had to put it in 2x just so it would be over quicker.

There were parts of this that had real promise. But I just couldn't stand Jasper. His constant, unending woe is me and his extreme lack of empathy for Milo were grating. Milo wasn't a saint in their referenced past but he does nothing within the story to deserve such repeated dunking. He's actually really sweet and constantly apologizing while Jasper dismisses and snaps at him. Even when Milo explains some of the context of his past actions, the best Jasper can do is some lukewarm canned response and this is treated like oh wow how amazing that he deigned to try to see things from Milos point of view how lucky Milo is to kneel at Jaspers feet and bare his soul for scraps. The storyline is too slow and boring to make it worth finishing considering how annoying Jasper is.

2 for 1 Review: Conventionally Yours was way better. It's hard to listen to this perspective of Jasper -- who was only peripherally mentioned in Conventionally Yours --with the same distinct narrator as one of the main, yet fragile, characters in Conventionally Yours. It suited the characters in CY better than this one. Jasper came across as effortlessly cool and casual in the first story where he was mentioned. This book-- or narrative --seems to have morphed him into a relatively insecure, almost identical version of Aldon, from CY. I just wasn't digging the vibe of Jasper; I did like the other characters and the surrounding storyline.. but it wasn't enough to keep me interested until the end. I just couldn't finish it. There was no substance and not enough witty, giddy, childish fun or emotional precipice to keep me hanging on for more. Decent, I guess, if you're wanting mindless a storyline you can multi-multi-task to without missing much context when you actually have to participate in the real world (gasp) for a chapter or two...but it just didn't hit. Conventionally Yours was better. Still not deep, not even making a space on my revisit shelf, but it was palatable and charming in a one-off kind of way.

I have pretty mixed views about this one. I loved Albert’s military series and the gaming series, but this one seemed veery slow and I didn’t feel a lot of connection or spark between the characters. It was wholesome and the relationship was cute but I just didn’t find myself that invested or interested in them. I did love the gaming aspect of the plot, it’s refreshing!
