UNDONE (A Cora Shields Suspense Thriller—Book 1) is the debut novel in a new series by #1 bestselling mystery and suspense author Blake Pierce.

On the outside, Cora Shields is a total badass. A Navy SEAL veteran and a top agent in the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit, Cora has a reputation for doing whatever it takes to catch a killer. What no one knows, though, is that she’s a wreck on the inside, addicted to painkillers and deeply depressed. When Cora is fired, she is at loose ends—until she learns that an old friend’s daughter has disappeared.

Hesitant at first, Cora decides to take the case on as a vigilante—and her world soon explodes into action.

The conspiracy she uncovers goes deeper than anyone could have imagined, leading her on a wild cross-state chase to save the missing girl before time runs out.

Can Cora handle all this alone, all while keeping her own demons at bay?

Can she catch a killer, and save the girl before it’s too late?

A page-turning and harrowing crime thriller featuring a brilliant and tortured vigilante, the CORA SHIELDS series is a riveting mystery, packed with non-stop action, suspense, twists and turns, revelations, and driven by a breakneck pace that will keep you flipping pages late into the night.

Entertaining if totally implausible in that way solo hero rescue books usually are. The narration is 'different' - a strong British accent reading an American character is pretty dissonant but it's a pleasant voice so not the end of the world. Will likely try next in the series.

It is a shame. Blake Pierce is a good writer, but whoever has the position of hiring readers needs to be fired. Both this series and the Paige series are totally impossible to listen to and enjoy the story. Hear me in "proper English" --"I feel like I'm listening to a bedtime story on the BBC." Whoever heard of everyone in West VA speaking in "British English"? I travel all over the world, and I am accustomed to "foreign accents". I even enjoy them in context. But, in a series set in the South Eastern portion of the USA, it is hard to get past the British accent and vocalizing and speech patterns. Also, in typical British stoicism, there's so little emotion in the telling of the story. I'm sorry, but I have to give it a 1 star rating due to the audio being unbearable.

I enjoyed the book and the narrator wasn't great, but wasn't bad either. Cora is a rule breaker, but sometimes that is the only way to get things done.

I wish I read this book instead of listening to the audiobook. It's a book about an American woman ex military and now on the FBI, but narrated by a British woman. It simply doesn't work. The book itself seems decent but I think I'll try reading book 2 of the series instead. Don't get me wrong. The narrator is not a bad narrator. Her voice just doesn't fit for this character and book. I'm honestly kind of surprised she was picked to narrate it. I don't understand why.

This was pretty entertaining. I loved how much of a bad a** the main character, Cora, is written to be.

The recording is not good. Pages turning, background noises, repeat sentences. The story is entertaining but I wasn't able to enjoy it because of the bad recording

Cora is a strong woman with all the good skills she developed, being a SEAL and FBI agent. However, she bent the rules too much and got fired from the FBI, which led her to work as a vigilante persona, finding bad guys and bringing them to justice with the help of her ex-FBI partner. A thrilling first book, let's see what adventures will follow!

Main Character: She is strong willed personality, and her character was very well-written. It's worth reading the next book in the series. Good suspense. Unfortunately, it's easy to figure out before the end, but I didn't figure it out till more than 1\2 ways. It was so well worth the mystery to read.

Cora Shields is an FBI agent who was hunted by images of her past from her time in Navy SeaL, and she is competing with drugs and refuses to get help. Psychological reasons are best known to her and her only. But this time, one of her supervisors went out of her way to nail her and got her thrown out of the FBI. Another of the tears member comment suicide because her daughter had gone missing, and the police were responsible for the missing girls. Cora was there for the furial. Only for the sister of her formal friend to ask and seek for her help. Cora did only she was able to uncover a lot of criminals. With the help of the FBI, the police officer and captain were arrested. But she went out on the hurt for her friends daughter.
From big boat to the island, she was able to get her friends daughter back home.

I liked the story line but the editing of the audio is horrendous. Multiple repeats and then digitized garble. Also, not sure why a voice over artist with a heavily UK accent is used for a novel plotted in the US. A little hard to follow, in my mind’s eye! I keep seeing dreary rain soaked London but then snap back when she uses terms like miles per hour or yards instead of meters.

The story was pretty good, but I couldn't get over the British narrator for all American characters. It just doesn't make sense!
