About this audiobook

Brady's always been a shortcut to merry and bright for me, ever since we were teenagers. Only this time, I'm hoping for more than a kiss under the mistletoe.

After my mom died, I knew I was at serious risk of a blue Christmas. The only upside to being called home from my wanderlust lifestyle is the chance to see Brady again.

But will nice-list Brady be willing to get a little naughty if he thinks I'll be running off to another globetrotting adventure after eight wild nights?

And can I pack away my feelings like holiday decorations after I've unwrapped the gift of being with Brady?

Editor's Note

Sexy Holiday Rom-Com...

In this holiday romance, a woman who’s recently lost her mom is about to celebrate her first Hanukkah alone, so her friend steps up to make her holiday as good as it can be — and perhaps get some Christmas cheer for himself as well. The issues are deep, the sex scenes are hot, and the characters feel real.

Author

Liz Lincoln

Liz has been concocting stories as long as she can remember, and from the beginning they involved two people falling in love. When she's not writing, she spends her time rooting for the UW Badgers and the Green Bay Packers (or yearning for the return of football season), cross-stitching and embroidering sassy sayings or nerdy characters (Wonder Woman is her favorite), and drinking too much Diet Coke. She lives in Milwaukee, WI, with her husband, two kids, two cats, and a turtle.

It was ok. Not one I would listen to again. I couldn't connect with the main characters very well. It seemed like neither one of the main characters wanted to deal with their emotions or the issues at hand.

I wish I could have enjoyed this book more, but I was not able to connect with our main character and I was also expecting a bit more action. The entire conflict is based on Laura’s decision to stay or leave her hometown. While I appreciated her free spirit, she seemed too caught up in her own problems and not realizing that actions have consequences.

The story begins with her return to Milwaukee, with a clear plan to spend a few nights with her best friend Brady, but as more than that. With her mom’s passing, she now has to sort the affairs of her gift shop and deal with her aunts as well.

The romance was ok to a certain extent. Brady is the nice guy, doing his best to comfort and support Laura with everything she may need. She on the other hand, took without giving much in return. She was not aware on the way her actions affected Brady and that crossing a line meant going to a point of no return. Still caught up in her plants to leave in a few days, she did not think on how Brady would feel.

The elements surrounding the romance were also ok to an extent. While I can understand Laura not being attached to one religion or the other and I may understand her emotional detachment from her alcoholic mother, she did not seem to do anything on her own. Brady helped her with the shop and with the little she complied with tradition. Her family appeared briefly and they didn’t make much of a positive impact either, which I believe was the author’s intention. I also did not understand how Laura was able to finance her travels, but I may have missed that in the book.

All in all, I cannot say I was crazy about it. I have listened to the audiobook and that was a big help in me finishing the story. I honestly whish I could have appreciated it more.
