About this audiobook

An addictive debut psychological thriller for fans of "The Girl on the Train", Liane Moriarty and Lucy Foley.

This is the story of Lucy and Paul. They met. They fell deeply in love. They got married.

Lucy thought that she had everything she wanted.

Until she found the photograph, the text messages.

Until she uncovered Paul’s secrets.

Now Lucy realises she doesn’t really know her husband. She doesn’t know if she can trust her own mind. She doesn’t know the lengths Paul would go to keep his perfect life.

And worst of all, she doesn’t know that she’s in danger...

Elena Wilkes grew up in Walsall in the West Midlands and then worked for eighteen years in H.M Prison Service. The people she met there provided the basis for all her novels.

Many of the prisoners there came across as very ordinary people who had committed the most appalling crimes but would, one day, walk straight back on the streets.

This begged the question: how much do we know about anyone, really? The people who live amongst us may seem no different from us at all, but when you scratch a little deeper, you realise they hold some very dark secrets.

As so many others have said, what on earth happened at the end? Most of the book was dull, picked up at the end, and then it just finished and I have no idea what was going on and made no sense. So many unanswered questions about characters and plot lines that disappeared too. Don't bother.

Story started well and had promise but fell apart with a ridiculous ending. Completely misrepresented current psychiatric care, had a pointless storyline about a sex offender and the ending didn’t make sense

It was OK, bit run of the mill. The two different parts of the story didn't really fit together, the part about he child abuser didn't really need to be there. Not really sure what happened at the end!

It kept my interest for sure so it wasn’t boring but the ending wasn’t good and I’m honestly not sure what I just read anyway it’s ok

This whole book was irritating and the ending was horrible! And did I mention confusing? Listen if you want to get to the end and wonder what in the world just happened. I even tried to look up an explanation of the ending and surprise!....no one can quite understand the ending.

Worst ending ever! Story plots that went nowhere, I kept waiting for an explanation about the sex offender guy , Emma was also a disappointment. Good thing I didn’t have to buy the actual book. I would have been mad.

I listened to the end twice and I still did not work out the ending. I didn't get the connection between Lucy and pauls family and why he put her through all she went through. Maybe just because she looked like his earlier wife be who 2as supposed to be dead but turned up alive.

The book was not bad but the ending was terrible and confusing!! I’ve listened to it 3 times and I’m not sure I still get it?!?!? ??

Some parts were really good, others just not believable. For someone very intelligent and independent, she seemed to fall under his spell very quickly. And, Emma was a disappointment. Her mother and sister seemed to have very minor roles in the story. The child a user was a whole different story that had possibilities but never gained traction. Not sure what to think of the end. Very weird. Some good twists and turns but all in all a very disorganized, unrealistic tale that had a great deal of (unrealized) promise.
