About this audiobook

Welcome to Sutton Station: One of the world’s largest working farms in the middle of Australia – where if the animals and heat don’t kill you first, your heart just might.

Charlie Sutton runs Sutton Station the only way he knows how; the way his father did before him. Determined to keep his head down and his heart in check, Charlie swears the red dirt that surrounds him – isolates him – runs through his veins.

American agronomy student Travis Craig arrives at Sutton Station to see how farmers make a living from one of the harshest environments on earth. But it’s not the barren, brutal and totally beautiful landscapes that capture him so completely.

It’s the man with the red dirt heart.

Ok, so the story is fantastic. Highly recommend it. But I need to talk to you about THE NARRATION!!! Joel Leslie was a favorite of mine before, which was literally the only thing that initially had me find this book. I did a search on his name to find other books he'd narrated. But THIS book??? His narration is INCREDIBLE!!! It was just a bonus that the story was as great as Joel's narrating. Can't wait to start book 2 in the series. It's midnight right now but I don't even care - I have to start it right now!

Dirty red dirt shenanigans. Longing, heart break, scary outback stuff. Loved it.
It's about Charlie Sutton a young gay closeted Australian ranch owner living in his dead father's disappointed shadow, and Travis Craig the American agronomy student. I really wish the author didn't give him two first names - super confusing. It's a lovely love story before a beautiful dangerous backdrop of the Australian Outback. The book had a great cast of supporting characters too. I'm sure we will see them again! N.R. Walker weaves a wonderful story. Joel Leslie did a great job narrating.

One of my favorite parts was the Charlie Sutton stream of consciousness chapter titles!
    1. Where the American Guy Walks in all blue eyes and disarming smiles, and my life goes to shit
    2. There’s a rule in the outback - don’t mock a man’s hat. Don’t touch another man’s hat, either, and you most certainly don’t go wearin’ another man’s hat. Yeah, right. One day… he’s been here one fucking day.
    3. Smug fucking yank. Yep. I said it.
    4. Plan A. and possibly Plan B. there could be a C. depending on how epically I fail at plans A and B.
    5. He has a star tattoo. Oh, of course he fucking does.
    6. Willpower: 0 WantPower: 1 Don’t look at me like that. It’s been a while for me, okay?
    7. The weight of words and demons. They weren’t heavy until he went and pointed ‘em out.
    8. Horses should do a lot of things. Coming home alone ain’t ever one of them.
    9. Lost and found, and the crumbling walls.
    10. Where some truths are said and are awfully hard to hear.
    11. Whoever sang about sorry bein’ the hardest word obviously never had to say goodbye.
    12. Two Weeks Later: Ghosts and goodbyes, and finally bein’ free
