EP22 People Management Welcome to episode 22 of the Fail Forward podcast.   Stop! In the inimitable words of Tina Turner, we don’t need another hero!   I employed people for a long time before I realised that I didn’t actually have a clue how to manage them. Sure, I’d built a great culture, I knew the names of all my staff, their families, kids and pets, but I was disempowering them. And in turn, I was undermining my business!   In this episode I share the mistakes I made that meant whenever I took time off or tried to go on holiday my business would implode and complaints would start pouring in. My team were good guys who were good at their job, but my approach to leading them had set them, and myself, up for a fall.    I also share what happened when I recognised what I was doing and stopped feeding my own ego.    If you take one thing away from this episode I hope it will be that you don’t need to have all the answers and be the fixer. You don’t need to swoop in with your cape and save the day.
