Description
Welcome to episode 13 of the Fail Forward podcast. If you’ve listened to previous episodes, you’ll have heard me talking about how changing my mindset about education has been key to rebuilding my life after I lost my first business. I left school with the firmly-held belief that education wasn’t for me. I’d failed at school (or perhaps school had failed me) and from there on in, I was going to work things out on my own. Hard work and determination were to become my mantra. Now - with the benefit of years of experience and gloriously clear hindsight, I can see just how wrong I was. I enlisted the help of my first business coach 10 years into my business and, far too late. Until that point I’d relied on my dad for advice and, whilst he’s a fabulous parent, he was simply too emotionally attached to be objective. Coaches and mentors are emotionally detached and have different areas of expertise or focus. But they have one important thing in common - accountability. They make you accountable for your actions. But that’s not all they offer - and in this episode I; examine the difference between coaches and mentors; share the value of peer group masterminds; and help you to visualise the endless possibilities that are there when you open your mind to the power of education.
