The Big 12 Board of Directors has unanimously approved the inclusion of Arizona State University, University of Arizona, and University of Utah into the Big 12 Conference. Commissioner Brett Yormark expressed enthusiasm, stating, “We are delighted to welcome Arizona, Arizona State, and Utah to the Big 12. The Conference is gaining three top-tier institutions, both academically and athletically, and the entire Big 12 eagerly anticipates collaborating with their presidents, athletic directors, student-athletes, and administrators.”
Effective from the 2024-25 academic year, the Big 12 Conference will expand to encompass 16 members: Arizona, Arizona State, Baylor, BYU, UCF, Cincinnati, Colorado, Houston, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas Tech, Utah, and West Virginia. This strategic move bolsters the conference's standing, showcasing a robust combination of academic excellence and athletic prowess.
