After graduating from Colgate University in 2015, Nick Frued spent a year and a half living abroad – first working as a math teacher in Phuket, Thailand, and then as a bartender throughout Australia. Shortly after returning to New York, Nick and his longtime friend from Colgate, Rob Carroll, came up with an idea: Virtual Reality college campus tours. While the seed idea proved to be a flawed business concept, it forced Nick and Rob to think critically about the inequities in the college search process, which ultimately lead to a pivot away from VR and towards crowdsourcing authentic video content from real college students throughout the country and world.
