Description

Length: 1 hour 6 minutesSynopsis: This evening (3/8/23), in our Wednesday night Tefilah shiur, we might have bitten off more than we could chew. Our goal was to understand the opening phrase in Shema Koleinu. To do this, we analyzed Shemos 2:23-25 with Sforno's commentary AND the recently published alternative Sforno commentary on AlHaTorah. What made this ambitious is that we ALSO read Sforno's commentaries on nearly all the pesukim he cites - a task we attempted in a Chumash shiur I gave last year. This was a LOT of Sforno. Did we emerge with an understanding of the line from Shema Koleinu? ... Kind of. We definitely took a few steps, but there remains work to be done. We shall see what develops in the meantime.-----Related Rabbi Schneeweiss Content:3/23/22: Why Did Hashem Redeem Us From Egypt? Each person who entered his presence was brought closer to a better version of themselves. This was due to his staunch belief in people and his uncompromising values. Knowledge is similar — it is indiscriminate and uncompromising in its power to help us become our best selves. Thank you Rabbi Schneeweiss for spreading knowledge, and may the memory of my grandfather, Naftali ben Tzvi, be a blessing.-----If you have questions, comments, or feedback, I would love to hear from you!
