Description

Length: 1 hour 10 minutesSynopsis: This evening (9/6/23), in our first Wednesday night Tehilim shiur of the 2023-2024 season, we decided to revisit the same perek we learned in Elul of last year - this time, through one of my new favorite commentators whose name nobody will have heard of: R' Elia di Nola, student of the Sforno. Because we learned the perek so recently, we deviated from our usual procedure. We relied on the translation and questions from last time, and we didn't attempt to figure out the main idea on our own, but instead, we jumped right into the commentary. We read and translated the whole thing and set up the main questions, which we'll attempt to answer next time.If you prefer a slower and more organic analysis, I recommend checking out the three-part shiur on this perek from September 2022.-----מקורות:תהלים פרק כזספורנושיעורי ר' עובדיה ספורנורש"י - גמרא סוכה דף נב עמוד א-ב:רמב"ם - משנה תורה: ספר המדע, הלכות תשובה ד:א; ו:הAristotle, Metaphysics 1:1רש"י - דברים ג:כג-----The Torah Content for the month of Elul has been sponsored anonymously in loving memory of Henya bas Tzirel - a mother who cared deeply about her children's engagement with Judaism. -----If you've gained from what you've learned here, please consider contributing to my Patreon at www.patreon.com/rabbischneeweiss. My name is Rabbi Matt Schneeweiss, and this is the hub for all of my shiurim (classes) on Tefilah (Prayer) and related topics, such as Tehilim (Psalms) and Berachos (Blessings)! The shiurim I upload here are given in a variety of formats with different lengths and intended for different audiences. The common theme which unites all of these shiurim is our focus on strengthening our relationship with Hashem through Avodah she'ba'Lev (Service of the Heart). If you have any questions feel free to email me at rabbischneeweiss at gmail. Thanks for listening!
