Description

This evening (12/28/22), in our Wednesday night Tefilah shiur, I shared a summary of the fruits of the learning I've done over the past couple of weeks with our newly minted chosson, Yehoshua, in preparation for his marriage to Brooke. We've been learning through some ideas in the sheva berachos and I figured it would be good to record those ideas in some form while they're fresh in my mind. For the sake of time and efficiency, I decided not to present the ideas from the firsthand sources, but instead to present our conclusions, along with the digest-style commentary of the Eitz Yosef in the Siddur Otzar ha'Tefilos. I'm calling it a "crash course" in that it doesn't aim for comprehensiveness - just for a bottom-line basic understanding. And at the end of the shiur, I do a quick overview of the various "issues" involved with the berachah of "ashar yatzar es ha'adam b'tzalmo" and explain our minhag.-----מקורות:נוסח ברכת אירוסין וברכות חתניםעץ יוסף - אוצר התפילותירמיהו ז:לד; טז:ט; כה:י; לג:יארמב"ם - משנה תורה: ספר נשים, הלכות אישות י:גבראשית א:כו-כזרש"י שםר' אברהם בן הרמב"ם שםספורנו שםבראשית ה:אשמות כה:טדברים ד:טו-יח -----This week's Torah content has been sponsored by Sarah in celebration of the marriage of Rivkie and Dovi Siderson. My name is Rabbi Matt Schneeweiss, and this is the hub for all of my shiurim (classes) on Tefilah (Prayer) and related topics, such as Tehilim (Psalms) and Berachos (Blessings)! The shiurim I upload here are given in a variety of formats with different lengths and intended for different audiences. The common theme which unites all of these shiurim is our focus on strengthening our relationship with Hashem through Avodah she'ba'Lev (Service of the Heart). If you have any questions feel free to email me at rabbischneeweiss at gmail. Thanks for listening!
