Description

NOTE: I made a mistake in my translation of the response to the 2nd berachah, according to the Rambam. It should be: "just as YOU brought him into the covenant, so should you bring him to Torah, to chuppah, and to good deeds." Length: 1 hour 3 minutesSynopsis: This evening (1/31/24), in our Wednesday night Tehilim shiur, we had a last-minute change of plans. Since the bris milah of the first son of my friends/chavrusas/students/Tehilim-shiur-attendees, Isaiah and Tamar, is scheduled to take place tomorrow morning, I figured this would be a good time to look into the berachos we say at a bris. We went through the facts and then focused on the berachah of le'hachniso bi'briso shel Avraham Avinu. Although this was an unprepared shiur (hence, the word "exploration" in the title), we made some nice headway! בג"ה, we'll continue next week.-----מקורות:אבודרהם השלם - לח:א-בסידור הרמב"םרמב"ם - משנה תורה: ספר אהבה, הלכות מילה ג:א-היד פשוטה שם-----The Torah content for this week has been sponsored by Uncle Isaac, on the occasion of the birth of his nephew — and in honor of Tamar and Isaiah on the birth of their son — Ezra Raphael.-----If you've gained from what you've learned here, please consider contributing to my Patreon at www.patreon.com/rabbischneeweiss. My name is Rabbi Matt Schneeweiss, and this is the hub for all of my shiurim (classes) on Tefilah (Prayer) and related topics, such as Tehilim (Psalms) and Berachos (Blessings)! The shiurim I upload here are given in a variety of formats with different lengths and intended for different audiences. The common theme which unites all of these shiurim is our focus on strengthening our relationship with Hashem through Avodah she'ba'Lev (Service of the Heart). If you have any questions feel free to email me at rabbischneeweiss at gmail. Thanks for listening!
