Description

Length: 25 minutesSynopsis: This evening (10/11/23), prior to our Wednesday night Tehilim shiur, I decided to take up a topic I felt I needed to address. Earlier today I had a VERY brief discussion with a fellow Jewish educator about how we've been handling our students' questions about horrific terrorist attacks on our people in Israel. I said that I don't have all the answers, but I'm started with the Rambam's Hilchos Taaniyos 1:1-3, which is about the mitzvah we were given specifically to implement at a time of war. She felt that this was not a good approach to take at the present time. I disagreed. Strongly. We didn't really get a chance to discuss this length, so I won't presume to know her reasoning, but I wanted to talk out my own reasoning, and decided to do so tonight as a preface to our shiur on Tehilim 20.-----מקורות:רמב"ם - משנה תורה: ספר זמנים, הלכות תעניות א:א-גרמב"ם - איגרת לקהל מרשילייא, על אצטגנינות ומזלספורנו - תלהים קטו:טדברים ל:כה-ל-----This week's Torah content has been sponsored by Ann in honor of her son, Shmuel, who is currently serving in the IDF. My name is Rabbi Matt Schneeweiss, and this is the hub for all of my shiurim (classes) on Tefilah (Prayer) and related topics, such as Tehilim (Psalms) and Berachos (Blessings)! The shiurim I upload here are given in a variety of formats with different lengths and intended for different audiences. The common theme which unites all of these shiurim is our focus on strengthening our relationship with Hashem through Avodah she'ba'Lev (Service of the Heart). If you have any questions feel free to email me at rabbischneeweiss at gmail. Thanks for listening!
