Over the last few years, trauma healing has come to center stage and gotten a lot of attention. So much so that we’re beginning to label any experience that proved to be difficult as ‘trauma.’ And for experiences that we’ve had that are traumatic, we aren’t healing from it or processing it appropriately. Because of this, our trauma starts to become part of our identity, and instead of moving on, we hold it with us as we move through life. When we are in a state of burnout, we think that healing from our trauma is the magic fix to our problems, when we actually have to be in a different state of mind entirely to heal from our trauma. You can not heal from your trauma while in burnout. You have to nourish yourself first. You also can’t recover from something you haven’t removed yourself from.
