The New York Yankees beat the Seattle Mariners 3-1 thanks to a stellar pitching performance from Gerrit Cole. Cole lasted seven and one-third innings, only gave up a run (and not on a home run), and struck out eight. He looked like the ace of the team when they needed him to be, and the Yankees snapped their four-game losing streak. On offense, Harrison Bader was back and got a single in his first at-bat, but the most important offensive performance of the night belonged to Anthony Rizzo. Sure, Billy McKinney hit the two-run jack, but Rizzo hadn’t been playing well for a month, and on Tuesday, he woke up. Is this a sign of good things to come? We discuss.
