LSU baseball has been the number one team in the country throughout the entirety of the college baseball season but they face another test this weekend as they host the unranked Alabama Crimson Tide at Alex Box Stadium for a three-game series.
The Tigers ace Paul Skenes is on the mound facing Alabama's righty Luke Holman who owns the best ERA on his team. Skenes has been incredible for LSU all season long with a 1.97 ERA and 115 strikeouts, the most among all pitchers in college baseball. While Skenes has emerged as being the best pitcher in the country and one of the top Major League Baseball prospects in this year's draft, depth behind Skenes has been a big question for Jay Johnson and his bullpen. With true freshman Chase Shores out for the season with a torn UCL, who will step up and emerge as the top guys out of the bullpen?
Plus, LSU slugger Tommy White left Sunday's matchup against Ole Miss early with what head coach Jay Johnson called a leg injury. While we got no more specifics on exactly what White is dealing with, Johnson assured the media that he should be back this weekend. White did not play in the Tigers 6-5 loss against Nicholls earlier this week, but Johnson said "If he can play, we want him to play."
