In this episode, Toby recalls getting involved with a business making its very first acquisition. There was Board approval for the deal and a committed leadership team eager to reap the benefits of their brand new acquisition.All seemed well except for the nagging issue that the deal seemed to lack clear purpose. As Toby points out, there was a lot of attention to the 'WHAT' needed to be done but there was scant attention to understanding the 'WHY'.Without the 'Why' there is no purpose and a deal without clear purpose is like driving without directions and no idea of destination.
