Description
There is a special magic about Erika. She radiates creativity, positivity, individuality, confidence and her energy is infectious.
These are not words usually used to describe a hotshot lawyer now, are they?
Well.. she is that as well. After graduating with her bachelors at Georgetown University and her JD at University of Miami she joined the teaching faculty as a Lecturer in Law and a Director of LWOW. Today she is the Head of Legal Innovation and Design at Simmons Wavelength leading a global team while based in London and guest faculty at IE in Madrid.
In this honest conversation Erika and I discuss:
Why she decided to study law
The terrible career advice she received at law school and what she did next
How she navigated the transition from JD student to Lecturer in Law at University of Miami
Pioneering innovation in legal education at Law Without Walls and IE University (Spain)
What her role as Head of Legal Innovation and Design at Simmons Wavelength involves
The difference between luck and hard work
How she maintains her sense of self and individuality
Not being everyone’s ‘cup of tea’
The importance of feedback and constructive criticism from trusted advisors… and others…
Boundaries and why they are so hard, yet so important to carve out
Why sleep is our superpower
And so much more!
I hope you enjoy listening to this honest conversation and it helps open your eyes to the limitless possibilities of where your legal career may take you.
