Bruce Cassidy said he saw enough of Adin Hill after the starting goalie surrendered two goals on just five shots early in Wednesday's 3-2 shootout loss to Anaheim, so he took out Hill in favor of Logan Thompson, who didn't surrender another regulation or OT goal. Cassidy said afterward that "something looked off and the goalie (Hill) should have been the most prepared because he had the previous night off." It was a road trip (LA/Anaheim) that saw the VGK get only one point. VGK's Mark Stone scored the team's seventh shorthanded goal of the season, which leads the NHL. Ben Hutton scored his first goal of the season for the Golden Knights. Hutton replaced Alec Martinez, who was sent back to Las Vegas for evaluation after taking a shot off his ankle in the Kings game. VGK also failed to score on the power play, even with a 5 on 3 advantage early in the game. Cassidy also jumbled lines for VGK. The Golden Knights Jonathan Marchessault didn't play, even though he was on the road trip with the team. VGK didn't score any shootout goals. Zegras and Terry scored for the Ducks.
