Maslow's hierarchy of needs is a rudimentary motivational theory by Abraham Maslow in 1943 in his article entitled "A Theory of Human Motivation" originally published in Psychological Review. The psychology theory asserts that humans are motivated by five basic categories of needs: physiological, safety, love, esteem, and self-actualization.
